I dont know why they picked Kingston other than thinking all of the top sprinters would show up there. Kingston doesn't even have a DL.
Plus they just had a HUGE week of track last weekend. SEriously, if you are a huge Jamaican track fan, and you just spent a week at Champs are you really going to go back for another 3 days the next week?

GST, if you tell people your event starts at 6:00, you can’t have half an hour of explaining the rules while showing endless shots of your empty stadium.
Anyone who’s not a die hard who is thinking about checking out this even has now tuned out and is onto something where things are actually happening.
It needs to be boom boom boom, one event after another, loud music, cultural flair, etc.
Like, at 6:01 it should be a wide shot of a full, electric stadium, 5 minutes explaining the rules, displaying the athletes and events, and by 6:15, fun goes off.
I believe a key strategic mistake they have made here is not opening up in Philly. It’s your best/most complete stadium that would look most legit on the hard cam and there were ways you get a “Penn Relays’esque” crowd in there at least for the launch night of your product. This is a tough look. Little things are going to matter here.
If we pretend it’s COVID era, the empty stands feel less sad.

I couldn't believe they started with "this is kingston" just like every track meet does - focuses on the location. USA indoors in N YC. I thought they'd have something big about the series.
Athlos's opening visuals were so much better. Now AThlos had a huge advantage as it was at night and the stadium in NYC is tiny compared to Kingston. If Athlos was held in Jamaica, the crowd would also have looked tiny but there is no denying one couldn't but laugh when John Anderson said, "The fans are starting to pour in" and the stadium was totally empty.
Looks like the first 30 minutes was just a preview talk show, and the actual show with the hype video package started at the half-hour.
Is there an actual live results page anywhere? You go to the Grand Slam website, click on results, and it's the weird racers vs. challengers thing, not an actual timetable with entries/results for this weekend's meet.
Honestly this practice/warm up track they're using would probably look much better as the actual setting....would be full and loud.

They're doing a 40 min pre- and post-meet show every day of the broadcast. That's a lot of time to fill with 8 races a day

Its the first night hopefully it will get better. What about giving tickets away at schools? I saw they wanted to have the youngest fan base in the world that would do it. I have no idea how the economics work but youre prob gonna have to take a loss initially its better to look good then sell 500 tickets. Maybe they tried that idk
