In the U.S., the number of daily marijuana users now equals the number of daily alcohol users, despite the fact that casual alcohol drinkers far out number potheads.
Hold the Scooby snacks. A reasonable person would say that at least a sizable number of “daily users” are, by definition, addicted. Do you think that daily or near-daily marijuana use has increased by 269% because no one is addicted?
You're committing the logical fallacy of "begging the question". You're trying to support a claim with a premise that itself restates or presupposes the claim.
Just because you use or do something daily does NOT mean you're addicted. "A reasonable person" lol that is so utterly absurd.
And did you read the study? I did. It DOES NOT state marijuana is addictive.
There are studies that indicate it is, maybe you should cite those.
(Not that it matters, but I do not consume marijuana)
Selective "studies" and "statistics" can "prove" that bat guano enhances tumescence. I proved to myself definitively that smoking ganga is better for listening to music than for playing it. All ye need know...
Profession wise, marijuana use is most prevalent among fast food workers. I never knew those guys were geniuses (full disclosure. I worked fast food in high school, most of the guys who smoked pot amounted to nothing in life. A couple killed themselves.).
Food service, hospitality, and construction workers were among the occupations with the highest rates of marijuana use, according to the results of a recent survey.

I have commented on both sides of the pot issue, not because Im any more confused than usual. Because: I think that pot use for some becomes an addiction and for others a habit. Then there are the casual social tokers. Having read William James's work on "habit" I view it very seriously and think that some of us are pot habitues. I do not judge against it -pot, weed, ganga, or as my pops (a band leader) called it "muggles." Habit to me a mind set from birth by which one is prone to initiate, repeat and repeat behaviors, but can, and often does, simply change that set of actions by conscious choice. Powerful as it is (!), and I underscore that, pot can be addictive to addictive personalities, but simply let go of by non-addictive persons. Unlike opiods, crack, heroin, fentanyl--which consume the consumer! So yes, I did a fair share of pot in my day.,Part of my habit was peer pressure, hanging mostly with musicians in the life. I could, and did--just like cigarettes--stop using it one day. No effort, no drama, no heroic accomplishment: partly because I was not built for addiction and because that chemical combo was not like the hard stuff and had not taken me over! For some it is or csn be disasterous and could--but not necessarily--lead to more intense and compelling drugs. But to others it is little time, a brief vacation from reality and a few laughs sans hangover. Even alcohol imo is more compelling and unhealthy esp. in excess. Your call. Bon Voyage!

One data point: Brother-in-law grew up smoking pot every day in middle school and high school. Got a job at a national lab so he switched to alcohol and quickly became a drunk. Kept getting thrown in the slammer for DUI so he killed himself. End of story.
I've believed my entire adult life that the whole "Marijuana isn't addicting" was the biggest lie ever told about drugs. It's the perfect drug to get as many of us on as possible, makes us as passive as possible so that the ruling class can treat us like mindless zombies.
Of course you are being sardonic and humorous, and in that vein I tend to agree! So much of what we see in discussions is opinion, baseless, talking points, false, etc, its like the Bog people or the Morlocks have taken over. From the top down the tone and content in discussion -with ocassional blinking lights from small still voices of reason, logic, evidence and all that good old stuff that once reigned in forums great and small.
