3/30 update: We are closing this thread to new posts. I did an ok job of following it for a few pages and moderating it but now am 10+ pages behind. The thread has served its purpose - the news has gotten out and people have reacted to it - we don't need pages and pages of the same discussion.

As a gay man - and follower of the sport - I’m actually shocked.
I had NO idea, he never set off my gaydar during interviews. I just always thought he was quirky.
Even the Taylor Swift thing didn’t do it for me; I know a straight male friend who loves her music while can’t stand it. Nevertheless, kudos to him!

saying “who cares” to this does not make you an ally. That’s great that you don’t hate him because he’s gay. It’s better than the alternative. But it’s a big deal to a lot of people that Yared had the courage to come out — most importantly, Yared himself. Responding to a scary, personal statement someone made about themselves with “who cares” is downright rude.
