Great race from hoey, if he wants a medal outdoors he can’t be using extra energy allowing people to make moves around him, have poor pacing
I disagree.
The 800 is tricky. If someone wants to go around you. You kind of have to let them do it. I thought i was smart to let Miller go by him initially. I might have event waited to strike back. You have 1 move in the 800.
I think the issue was the first 200 and 400 was a little quick. But if you wand the lead, you don't hae a lot of options.
Brandon Miller went for gold but killed his own race and nearly cost Hoey gold. I think we can dial back the Hoey hype a wee bit. Arop and Wanyonyi arent quaking in their boots at that.
As a former 800 runner I will say that was suicidal move from Brandon M. It is foolish to go all in so far from the finish line. He should have stayed behind the Belgium until the last 50m. Then he would have got the silver or at least the bronze.

Are you guys going on this morning, or gonna have to wait til Tuesday to hear from you all?

nevermind. I see you're scheduled for 9:30. See yuh!
Whichever athlete outside of the leader that avoided tangling with Werro was going to have a great chance. Dugumas entire first 400 she was freaking out about Werro.
If you want to know why the Americans are doing so well as say to 25 years ago, all you have to do is watch those women's 800 and 1500 races. The coaching/tactics are just abysmal.
Embarrassing so. It's the type of racing you used to see in high school races all the time in the US but no longer see. The coaching of US HSers is way better than what they are getting.

Do you think Tsegays tactics were bad Rojo? She knew she could run 3:53 and nobody else could. She won the race in the first 400 meters. Yes the W800 was laughably bad from Duguma who obviously had no plan B if someone else wanted the lead.

didn't watch the 800. but there's not a tactic in the world that would have helped those American's in the 1500. They're just not good enough.
As Donald Trump might say:
When AMerica sends it's women to world indoors, They're not sending their best.
Nikki and Shelby both would have stuck their noses in it. Would have at least been with Griffith and Bell.

Oh jeez. didnt' realize he wasn't talking about our own girls. Yeah..Tsegay's tactics were great imo. She wanted the record and had confidence that going for it wouldn't hurt her chances. She could have done that, or floated right to the back of the field off the line. She was going to dominate any which way.
I honestly didn't see what was going on in the rest of the race. Just saw there was 3 girls a straightaway behind, having their own race for silver and bronze.
