We combined two threads on the topic and merged them into 1. We also greatly apologize that a volunteer moderator deleted this breaking news thread. The OP would definitely win a free t-shirt for noticing breaking news like this if they had posted under a registered name. If you want to win free great, post under a registered handle.
PPS. I can't believe a moderator would delete this thread which broke IMPORTANT breaking news to the world. Yes the guy saying "screw you" isn't being nice but this is a "fan forum", fans are fanatics and are allowed to be emtional. Imagine if you bought tickets to Lakers Mavs game later this month and Luka doesn't play.
Fire him, Rojo. Seriously. It'll unironically improve our community as this moderator has already demonstrated a gross incompetence for identifying which threads should be deleted and which should be left alone. If a moderator can't handle important discussions or breaking news properly, he shouldn't be in a position of authority.
I have said it to you before rojo, you cannot have moderators and just leave the judgement up to them. There needs to be guidelines. Do you guys even talk?
How can you write this on a day when two world records got broken? Are you not seeing the same sport we are seeing? I was at a friend's house for this meet and nobody in the room was bored. We love track when there are super close battles between big name athletes resulting in records!
BTW, I follow more than just Kerr's career, so as long as Jakob, Meyers, Strand, Laros, Kessler, Tim Cheruiyot, Hocker, or Nuguse is racing against someone good, I am easily entertained. It doesn't make sense to expect every one of those guys to be in every race.
One thing I would like to bring up is that in a non-skill sport, fitness is all it comes down to. If a very sick Kerr tried to rely on something other than his "running ability" he would get destroyed. So comparing it to a skill sport like football where you can hand off to teammates, is insane.
It is also lame of us (as fans) to assume getting sick is always a dodge by a fearful athlete who is scared to race. People used to say that about Rupp if he was sick. They still say it about Jakob. And now Kerr. One thing those three guys have in common is that they want to kick your asses and win races. They are not "wusses" who fly out to a meet and the bail for the fun of it.
crazy how one of the healthiest people in the world can just get sick out of the blue the night before one of the biggest indoor races of the season. what are the odds huh
Well somebody claimed it twice in a row in championship finals (of course only after losing)

Who is this Meyers I keep reading about on LetsRun? Must be Austrian.
It’s a little counterintuitive, but being that physically fit and pushing your body to the edge actually leaves elite athletes more succeptible to illness.
Come on this guy was a 3:44 powerhouse at fifth avenue mile and would have ran at least 3:45 today. It’s not because he feared Nuguse and Kessler. He will bounce them off the track easily.

If they say they are sick, I believe it.
Of course he was sick. He is a 3:44 slayer what’s 3:46 for him? Kerr is the only man capable of beating El G 1500m wr
Jacob however, and perhaps too arrogant, will run after a hard race, getting sick, or right after the 1500 5000 double, and run a half marathon, bombing after 10k at near WR pace.
nobody has the wild balls of Jacob
Kerr is careful and sensible and effective.
if Jacob wasn't ultra successful, you'd have to say boy, smarten up.
but if you're the best on the planet, why not let it all hang out, anything else would be a crime.

Not a 100% correct -he also claimed it before and after the WC 5000m in 2023, and that one he won I think…
<< Kerr is called “Duck Duck Kerr” mainly because his racing schedule is very short. That is probably just a function of his fitness though, wouldn’t want to show up when he is slow.>>
Peter Snell's willingness to race when not in top shape was one of things I really respected about him (along with the 3 Olympic gold medals and always peaking at the right time.) Kerr needs to make the right decision for Kerr and he obviously does!
The 2025 Millrose Games was fantastic. I went for many years to Madison Square Garden and although it was always great being there, I can't afford the tickets anymore and am fine with that. Getting away from that 11 lap to the mile slow track and with the advent of hi-def TVs... it works out fine for me! What a great meet. I didn't miss Kerr, though it is fun to speculate.

lmao gotta be trolling, the 3:44 at fifth ave mile was wind aided
If you thought Kerrs finish was good, you haven't seen his ducking skill! Feel like this is the season we get to see everything come together for him. Ducking every meet except Grand Slam, where he knows he will be safe from most of the europeans and africans.
