He was the first American in 11 1/2 years to run under 3:50 for a mile indoor or outdoor. No other American between Webb in 07 and Centro in 21 ran a sub 3:50 mile.
Your obsession with IQ is a solid hint that you're a moron, and reading your posts confirms it. If you weren't so defensive about how stupid you were, then you wouldn't keep posting and continue to get so upset about this. Calm down and quit yapping.
Made two worlds teams and ran 3:49. Probably realized with all the young studs coming up that his time in the sun was done. But always a guy you could count to be fighting for a spot on a time from late 2010s to early 2020s
He is intelligent fantastic career get started on the real career so he can get his 20 years in retire at a reasonable age and have a great life. He is not old but after a certain age the injuries and arthritis start so do cardiac issues sadly. I mean the guy ran something like a 4:06 mile in night club clothing for blue jean mile. I wish him all the best he was a class act and still is not was great for the sport.
I agree! no other duders ran 3:49 in that timespan. that track was open to all comers that same decade. Johnny was A1 elite usda prime cut of Ohio raised cattle, just never pieced it together for an Olympics year unfortunately. He’s still on the menu at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse if I’m ordering a meal though. Don’t yuck my yum. The Jet lives on in your mind. these comments live forever on the internetty.
I'm glad that everyone is saying he's a great dude. His dad was a coaching colleague of mine at Brown and a great dude as well.
This is bad news for LRC though as it means Jonathan Gault and I are getting old. Jonathan beat Johnnny in at least once race and I was still coaching in the Ivy League when Johnny was a steepler (first two years).. Then he switched the mile. It was always wild to me that a guy who never won an Ivy League title in the 1500/mile ended up being such a 3:49 miler.
I guess it shouldn't shock me as he's a better and younger version of Wejo. Good dudes who ran way better out of school than in school.
Dartmouth's Steve Mangan won the mile and 1500 in 2014 resigning Gregorek to runner-up status.
