New Mexico’s top American signing for 2025 just placed 7th at footlocker. Show me the last 100% American roster to win a national title. Providence’s entire top 7 for their 3rd place team weren’t American yet we never hear any crying about it. I wonder what makes Providence’s team different from New Mexico…
Uh, BYU. This year. 4 of the top 5 and 5 of the top 7 from Utah.
What are the ages of the BYU guys? The issue with the Kenyans is many of them are a few years older than US high school grads.
.... Still, from an athletic standpoint, it's gonna be great for the development of our athletes. And it's pretty cool that our country is so prosperous that we're literally importing world junior champions to run for our school track teams.
Completely agree with this. What a privilege it is to be an NCAA fan in this era when so many of the world's best are coming to run on our doorstep... and what a game-changer for the current crop of American NCAA athletes to have to raise their games to compete against top internationals.
Can there be any doubt that this is part of why we now have Americans going straight from the NCAA to Olympic finals in the distances (Hocker 2021, Blanks, Valby, Whittaker 2024)
Obvious that so many here were never actually college athletes themselves, including you. While you are sitting on your couch enjoying the "privilege" watching of 25+ year old foreigners duke it our for NCAA titles, thousands of tax paying college and high school kids are having their opportunities stolen from them.
How many kids 9:05 type who otherwise couldn't afford college without an athletic scholarship will now be left out to dry? How many 14 low 5k college kids will be cut from their team to make room for these foreigners? How many of them might have signed leases and registered for classes under the impression of still being on their team? What about their tax-paying parents who will now be stuck with these bills because the scholarships they subsidized are now being given to non-citizensm
But no matter, you get to enjoy your entertainment at the great expense of all these people. What a win for you.

23-26.
There probably should be an age rule (24?). That being said not a factor here. Should be fun to see because NCAA is a great development season and this is an elite talent.
This doesn't make sense to me. These guys are doing this in large part to support themselves and their families. But all he has gotten help with is travel expenses, and now the money he actually made in races he will have to pay back? There is either a loop hole to sign professional runners, or coaches are paying these agencies and looking the other way on what they decide to disclose on their NCAA profile. Someone make it make sense.
