Somebody is mad. My guess is that the sales catalog for Chinese-made slow Americans isn't selling well to coaches. Don’t you think international athletes normally refer their friends to coaches? I won't be surprised if this kid was recruited in Lima, Peru, during the World U20 Championships….
Not surprised its him after reading through the thread but also the Rosa management to NCAA connection is strong already with the likes of Pamela Kosgei, Peter Maru, Lukas Kiprop. I thought when you signed a contract then NCAA was off the table but seems to be no longer the case.
Its ironic perhaps because many Americans don't like the influx of foreigners into the NCAA and I also read Kenya is concerned so many of their athletes are leaving - it does seem so many young Kenyans are either going NCAA or Japanese corporate teams, not as many high calibre Kenyan long-distance track guys based fully in Kenya now. I don't mind Kenyans or other foreigners in the NCAA but am not a huge fan of it increasingly becoming a pro league and a "quick fix" for coaches as far as recruiting
4:05 is not equal to 4:02 lmao what are you talking about?
In all seriousness I could see that happening, but I would also love to see Cam Meyers land at UW and train with Nathan Green - two young 3:32/3:33 guys training together aint no joke. Plus Waskom (and Sam Prakel for that matter), as far as I know, still trains with them too.
Looks like somebody is defensive. If you’re going to resort to literally buying your team of professional Kenyans, don’t be surprised when there’s criticism of that approach. All it says is you have deep pockets and don’t believe in your own ability to recruit and develop. At that point you’re a manager, not a coach.
Also, didn’t the Chinese-made American men medal more in the distance events than the Kenyan men in the most recent Olympics? Maybe the best Kenyan men were not competing due to PED suspensions?

Is Nick Saban known as the greatest CFB coach of all time for his development of three stars to 7th round draft picks?
After a rocky indoor track season ostensibly due to moving ACROSS THE WORLD, the TITAN is gaining momentum! N.C.A.A. 10.000m Record in 26.50 !! Move over Nico Young; Graham Blanks! 🔥🏃
In retrospect this is an overzealous but genuine post. Assuming this was about Ishmael, a new collegiate record and 10k win is pretty good. Lackluster indoor, and definitely not a threat to every distance event, but we can dream
Does anyone else find it sus that all the replies 6 months ago only had 1-2 downvotes except the first post? :D That is a record at LR as even great posts usually get upwards of 25-50% downvotes. ;)
so basically New Mexico is turning full Kenyan and not even pretending to care about American kids.
Hasn't it pretty much always been that way at New Mexico?
Not to this extent. They would do pretty good with Americans a couple years ago. They still recruited foreigners(Kerr etc) but would recruit Americans and they would always develop pretty well.
