I think for the most part people have been very consistent in their disdain for Shelby and for BTC. Going on vacation hasn't been included in this.

Shelby has always been free to do whatever she wants, except disrespect the sport. When she competes in non sanctioned races against competitors, it rubs people the wrong way. When she trains with BTC even though she was banned, people aren't going to like that, heck, GDS left the group because it was making her so uneasy.

She can get a job go on vacation with who ever. Whatever.

Shelby has had a bunch of recent Strava activities at Nike HQ in Beaverton. I wouldn’t be shocked if they sponsored her again. That’s generally not a place you just drive up to and run through campus.

I figure a person’s close friends know a person better than a random internet troll. Just saying there is a possibility she is being honest.

But what happened? I honestly don't know. She probably doped. I think that is the most likely scenario, we all agree on that. I think she failed the test and had nandrolone in her system. We all agree on that too. Based on what we know about our sport, she wouldn't have been the first.

What I don't know is how perfect the system is, so I always hedge my bets when it comes to a life-changing, career destroying, reputation ending decisions. I can be 99% sure and still admit that the other 1% is out there.

I am too much of an outsider and a non-expert to bet my life on this (or any similar) case. Yes, I would bet that she did dope but I wouldn't bet my house, if you know what I mean... I agree with the ban but I wouldn't grab my pitchfork and start lighting torches!

Not just BTC. Are there any athletes anywhere that have stepped up and condemned Shelby for intentional doping?

It's ok for people to believe Shelby when she says she doesn't know how she tested positive. You don't have to have a theory about why it happened to believe she was not intentionally doping in the manner in which she was caught. That belief isn't separate from also believing she was caught doping and refused to admit it so she served an extra year of suspension.

Those who caught and suspended her didn't have to provide any explanation of how she was doping, only that her tests showed that she had prohibited substances in her body. So it's just as valid to believe she's a cheater but don't know what her program was as to believe she doesn't know how she got caught in the manner she did. It's the same thing and same end result.

Okay thanks for your reasining. However I believe she was framed. I don't trust drug testing. Why should I when evidence of corruption is so strong?

Now my question: Have any athletes condemned her for intentional doping? I've heard a lot of noise and vitriol from from "fans" and pundits, and pseudo-experts and other outsiders, who believe they know the real truth, but from her competitors, the silence is deafening.

Let it go, dude. Seriously- deep breaths. The initial anger and shock is expected by everyone (myself included), but the heavy vitriol here years later by some is just weird. Look, no one is dead. No one tried to hurt you. You're not out any money.

At the very most, you have 100 years on the Earth to live. Why would you even worry yourself or hold hate for someone that you've never met in a completely niche sport? At that, the person messed up, and paid the man. What more do you want? Have you ever messed up? If not, then carry on. If yes, then realize that you're not much different. In fact, think about the times that you've lied, broken the law, or cheated- yet no one find out. Further, having friends there to support you in a time of difficulty- 4 in this case highlighted in the OP's post- is really rare. For what it's worth, my oldest brother was killed in Korea by a drunk driver. The hardest thing I've ever done in my life is to forgive that man. But after a decade of hate and it affecting my own life, I forgave that man. It didn't make right what he had done, but it literally changed my life overnight. Sure, that's an extreme example, but i feel like it's also somewhwat applicable. Try forgiveness. Not one of us are perfect enough to hate someone else for their mistakes. And certainly, none of us are getting out of here alive. Don't waste your time with anger and hate on some random and arbitrary thing as this. Don't do it.
