LOL - yes, he will probably never win anything as big again. Very few have ever repeated as a global 1500m champion - only one in recent history since EL G was Asbel... and he wasn't even clean.
So yes - he'll likely not repeat.
But a 3:27 is not luck.
Oh, and by the way - exactly what time would have to have been run in Paris to burn Cole off? In the final 100m, he got initially blocked, had to fade back, regroup and still managed to outkick everyone in a fast pace. Genuinely makes me wonder if he had to run a 3:25 to win, he might have.
No he didn’t, Hocker got lucky that the third lap was lagging, if he had to speed up beforehand, he would have lost. Sitting and kicking is luck.
Not many people repeat with Olympic gold. Pretty hard when it’s only every 4 years. Amazing how people belittle a performance like that with “won’t do it again” talk🤦♂️

The OP is just coping and seething because he’s envious of Hocker. The OP is probably one of those guys who predicted that Hocker would never win a medal of any kind. The OP is mad that he was wrong and Hocker is the Olympic Champion.

Not just Olympics, any high level race with his competition. Not just USA’s

Wrong, I never even knew about Hocker before the final, I know flukes when I see them.

LOL. Keep coping and soothing. Hocker had a gold medal and you have hate inside your heart. Hocker wins.

You are just dumb. This is why: you can literally go back through every World Championship level race for the last 100 years and say that if you change a b and c, then someone other than the person who actually did win would have won instead. That would, in turn, make every single championship winner over the last hundred or more years "lucky." I think you need to think through your arguments a bit more before you talk out loud on this forum.
Hocker out ran them all, and make his own luck except for the break on the inside.
Regarding Centro, his win was zero luck. He outran 800m 142 guys in the last 400. and trained for that. took control from the front.
And since when being a very great championship runner makes you fluky or lucky?
Winning when it matters with high pressure.
These guys are olympic champions for all the right reasons.
Wrong, he got lucky nobody decided to push the pace, he most certainly would have lost that way, and it’s why he never won again.
No, wrong.... it might have been lucky if he had had no resume at the world championship level. However, he has a bronze from worlds, a silver from Worlds, a fourth place finish in an olympic final, and a gold from an indoor World Championship 1500 m final. The gold in Rio was clearly Within the realm of possibility.

That’s true, but sitting and kicking requires the most luck, and it is very telling when they fail to replicate their win again. He will go down as a fluke, rather than a true champion.
