I think you’re being way too harsh. You’re experienced on the Internet. The barriers to conflict are sufficiently reduced to make people much more rude than they would be in real life. it’s no different here. The main difference at LRC is that people can talk on a more or less equal playing field, which is becoming more and more rare on the Internet.

I am confused as to why you and others are so offended by posts you disagree with, as if it’s done specifically to make you angry. There are loads of leftists on this site, they post constantly and contemptuously of those they disagree with. So it works both ways.

I’m not sure what you want from moderation. To delete everything you disagree with? That wouldn’t make things better.

I see your point, and I suspect that the "right wing, racist, misogynistic trolls" as you say are likely sponsored by the site simply to prompt reactions and stimulate debate. That would make sense, esp. when you see how often they are posting.
It is so annoying, so I simply skip their posts and scroll down to read posts by registered users who I respect, and I read their posts.
I do object to certain things entirely, though, and that would be misoginy, reference to anything nefarious with underage people, homophobia, racism, antisemitism, and other forms of stereotyping. Those are unacceptable and have no place on a public messageboard.

You’ll have to be more specific about your definition of misogyny, homophobia, racism, and “other forms of stereotyping.” I find that leftist definitions are completely different than mine, and for that matter completely different than almost everyone else’s 15 years ago.

The way I understand doxxing is very very rudimentary. From what I understand you can easily find an IP address, but that only gets you so far, it narrows it down to a city. To actually find the person you would have to find the email address attached to the account, and then try to discern who the person is from there.

I could be wrong.

My wife would divorce the $h!t out of me, I would lose half my clients, probably get sued, my gay family members would disown me, my Democrat friends and Neo-Con friends would unite together for the first time ever to kick my a$$, my cat would leave me. Other than that, not much.

You spend time on the internet. The problem isn’t LRC, it’s the fact that the internet reduces the consequences for open conflict. Therefore you get a lot of it.

People who allow themselves to get angry that way deserve all the bad times they endure as a result. You really aren’t a fully formed adult if you can’t bear to hear or read a differing opinion without freaking out. It’s not a hard habit to mature out of if you WANT to mature.
