lot of downvotes on this post, which doesn't make sense. peaking at the right time and getting to the start line healthy are what it takes to be an olympian. maybe there was an element of unluckiness, but the bottom line is if she had been ready to run 156 at the trials she would have likely been on the team and probably the champ. she was not.
So basically anyone who did not make US team has a coaching issue?
Fortunately, most athletes are a bit more mature than that and take some of the responsibility themself.
Many factors go in to running well at the right time. Wiley has had a pb every year, so training and coaching seem ok. She also made US team indoors.
to me the ones who made the team remain the big show for the oly year, and this is the opening salvo towards next year and worlds, if she can maintain.
the rogers era bunch is on its way out but the new bunch is quick and it's not going to be quick and abundant.
Are you insane? Why in the world would you delete a post from someone saying Nick Johnson was at the meet? If a banned coach was at the meet, that's newsworthy.
My apologies. Whichever volunteer mod deleted this, please email me .
The moderation on this thread has been embarrassing. I apologize. We are changing servers and for some reason I can't tell who deleted the posts. It's possible someone has been abusing our automatic deletion feature. That has happened on Wiley threads in the past.
You should be able to question whoever you want. You can't say "Hull is dirty, Wiley is dirty" but you can say "The improvement is very supsicious... Her association with NJ gives me pause, etc."
I am disappointed in the moderation of this thread but also hate all of the cynics who false state as fact people are dirty when they don't know it. Unless you saw someone taking drugs yourself, you don't KNOW they are dirty.

appreciate you saying as much, though overzealous mods or too-easy-auto-delete capability has made it such that giving a well thought out response feels like a probably waste of time because sooooo many threads get deleted
someone deleted a thread today about chess where we were discussing the potential physiological reasons there are no women ranked in the top-100. likely an overwoke mod or poster who doesn't like dealing with or discussing the world we live in
anyway, i think that's one of the reasons so many of us shtpost 90% of the time, who cares if that slop gets deleted and it takes such minimal time and effort
