Why is any discussion about weight and running off limits now? It seems we can both acknowledge that we have to be sensitive with those who have a history of disordered eating and not tell lies about food having no effect on running? We can both eat foods that help us achieve our goals and not be obsessed with the number on the scale. The eat anything seems like a lie, especially when it comes from someone who is smaller than the majority of the population.
Interesting thread.I am now old and notice when I am not at my optimal weight every time I run. WEIGHT IS SUPER IMPORTANT. Everyone has an optimal weight. It is a derivative of a proper/improper diet. Go over or under weight by too much and the objective performance measure of time or injury make themselves known to the downside.
I had an all American female xc/3000/5000 runner who loved food. Was thin, healthy, fast. went down the too much food diet and gained 25 lbs over 4 years and wound up performing poorly but not wise enough to understand the cause. work=force x distance. She wrecked her career and I couldn't say a damn thing because you cannot speak the truth anymore under the collective censorship regime.
The reality of the US is that 42% of the population is now classified as obese. 1.6% are considered underweight. Look it up. It is clear what the real problem is. Diabetes and heart disease are rampant.
My sisters are killing themselves with food and consider themselves body positive. They are 100lbs overweight and I cant say anything or I am "fat shaming". I love them and It is heartbreaking. It is not body positive. It is body suicide for 42% of the population.
