as he planned. He felt his PR should be much better than what was on paper. That's it. Seemed confident in his potential and happy that it all came together as he had planned with his team.
Over Confident to imagine he can just replicate a fluke PR in a DL setting. Or even entertain WR ambitions this season. Cocky on the future. Yesterday's race proved. He indeed was cocky about his own potential. Best 1500M runner this year?

2 races left without nearly as much of the stuff that comes with winning Olympic Gold. Let's see how he does before calling anything a fluke.
Man, you all are harsh. Dude had a good race. Friendly reminder that 3:29 is actually a REALLY fast, even for a pro and it is now his 2nd fastest time ever. This would be considered a good race for anybody not name Jakob. He got 2nd behind Jakob, who specializes in these time trials. Everybody else was WAY back with the exception of Kessler, who was sorta close but not really.
Hocker was struggling 600 out. How can his form drop so much in 2 weeks?
Being a first-time Olympic champion comes with a premium on your time.
Hocker said that “considering the overwhelming past two weeks, it was a solid race. Physically I felt comfortable, but mentally, it's a new challenge being announced as Olympic champion. I felt the pressure, but I'm excited about how things are shaping up.”

Before the race Now, you have to be strong – just extremely strong. I've built that the past two years as best as I could. I'm the fittest I've ever been and I don't want to leave anything on the table. I hate losing. Every time I race, I want to win. Now I'm in the mix and I think it was evident that I like racing for the win and not just for the time. "I’m really concerned with establishing myself as one of the greatest runners in history. After the race "I was right there in the last 100M. Put my self in the right position. I did everything I could. but I was a little over cooked."
A great run and I think Cole would top out at maybe 7:26-7 in a 3,000. Lucky for him, 1500 is the championship distance and he is considerably closer there.

Cole 3rd in Zurich, 3rd in Brussels. Like Centro, pretty much a one hit wonder.
