Wow, reading all these 90s guys training logs I just have to say I have nothing but respect for how hard you guys had to train. It takes real mental toughness to even be sucessful running that fast everyday. The hardest thing for me to phathom about the 90s training is the pace you guys would go on your training runs. I was a 1:52 800/ 4:10 mile type guy in college. The 90s training wouldve killed me. Most of my runs were at 6:15- 7:00 minute pace, with the easy days at around 7:30, 10 miles at 6 minute pace was a really tough day for me. Granted, I was a bit aerobically underdevelpoped (didnt break 15 in the 5k till after college) but I do not think I could physically run every run at 6 flat pace. Sometimes I was tired doing a long run faster than 6:15 pace for 15 miles. I could probably last on the workout days, but the runs would destroy me. I am not too removed from college and just recently started to pr in the longer stuff that I didnt get to race much in the NCAA like the 3k and 5k, but I still run most easy runs at 7:00-7:30. Even now the day after a hard session I am so tired and I need that easy type mileage to get my legs back.
