If he did dope, I think it was for injury recovery to get ready for the Olympics. I think that is how many runners start - they feel cheated out of a big race due to injury and take PEDs to help speed up the recovery.
true. if knighton is doping, what in the world are all the others on? knighton's physique looks slim and "clean" compared to the others. i mean look at thompson, that physique at 23
I have to wonder what kinds of people you all see on a regular basis. Thompson is certainly a big, strong guy, but again, if you walk down any city street in a developed country you see people who look like this on a regular basis. People who look like this typically achieve this build in their early to mid twenties.
I find Thompson's progression unlikely/suspicious and running that fast at that size is truly unique, but the idea that his physique in and of itself is uncommon at his age is a joke. Unless the only people you see day to day are famished distance runners, I don't know how you could come to this conclusion. Have you all never been around even moderately athletic male human beings??
I havent seen too many guys in the street who look like thompson, apart from very obvious roid users. His isnt an athletic physique, its way WAY beyond that, and ive never in my life seen regular athletic physiques that look like that. And i have been around athletic males most of my life.
most american athletes, thompson, sedtaji, bell, hull, ethiopians, kenyans, etc
let's ban ALL athletes... that's the only sure-fire way to get rid of doping. Ban literally every single athlete... and retrospectively strip all medals from all athletes since the 1904 Olympics... obviously if someone is good enough to win a gold medal something's not right. CLEAN SPORT!!!!!
To those who say sprinters don't use trenbolone or that taking tren automatically makes you jacked like a bodybuilder here's a photo of the last sprinter before Knighton that got popped for tren.

Some people respond better to steroids than others. Some will blow up others will just gain some lean mass and lose fat, especially at non bodybuilding abuse levels.
unfortunate that he may get banned 4 years...AIU isn't targetting anybody else though, just a 20 year old prodigy. integrity units outside of Athletics should be targeting other obvious dopers, like the chinese swimmers
It's all celebration when the Kenyans are being banned, but when they hit closer to home, out come the excuses: generational talent, unfair targeting, oxtail, burrito...only 3rd world athletes deserve banning! In fact, Sedjati should be banned immediately just for breathing oxygen while Hocker is the athlete of the year! 🤨
You've hit the nail on the head here. Summarises the contents of this thread for those not from America.
To me, the entire case is suspicious. He tested positive for trenbolone, and extremely anabolic steroid virtually guaranteed to put on a large amount of muscle to his frame that a sprinter doesn’t need. It has very extreme effects, and bodybuilders has spoken anecdotally about the paranoia, fits of rage, and even bizarre sexual behavior that has resulted from trenbolone.
What I’m saying is that trenbolone is a very strange drug for a sprinter to take, and there is a good chance this is incidental contamination. I don’t know why anyone would when there are much less risky options readily available.
Sadly, Knighton may be a victim of the current war between USADA and WADA.
Are you suggesting that World Athletics (AIU) is involved in this war between WADA and USADA when the war started because of an aquatics doping controversy so has nothing to do with World Athletics?
Why would he test positive? If he knew he was taking something fail a whereabouts you get 3 strikes at it, appeal one of them you get 4. If you do get banned for whereabouts you can be like Christian Coleman and get a 2 year ban and act like nothing happened.
Sometimes athletes just get caught in a situation where they can't dodge the test such as the DCO unexpectedly finding them outside their testing window (as they should) and the athlete can't refuse the test or they get a four year ban.

Oh he's absolutely on bodybuilder doses of anabolic steroids but just cos Thompson looks like that on roids doesn't mean Knighton isn't on roids too albeit much lower doses.

The only top sprinters who look "normal" are Kim Collins, De Grasse, Knighton, Tebogo and Lemaitre.
I can't even name a top female sprinter who wasn't an abnormal bodybuilder. You'd have to go back to Evelyn Ashford.
Teenagers don't run 19.4. That will never look normal!

The AIU was created by World Athletics and only polices track and field. Swimming has its own integrity unit that has nothing to do with the track AIU, so the two don't seem mutually exclusive.
The Athletics Integrity Unit has been responsible for a fair number of the busts in Kenya and the majority of their testing is in Africa and Europe, I don't think you can say that they aren't targeting anyone else or that they are picking on Knighton in particular. We asked for this, this is what it's going to take to clean up the sport. It's going to hurt for a little while, but if it wasn't for the AIU there's no chance a guy like Grant Fisher gets an Olympic medal in the 5k or 10k.
Absolutely correct, Fisher would not have won a medal if a) the dopers didn't fear the testing ability of the French labs and b) AIU
He looks completely normal compared to them. If he's doped, what on earth are they all on?
Lyles looks pretty normal to me. I can go down to my local basketball court, gym and track and find guys with more impressive looking musculature than Noah Lyles.
Have you not seen him rip off his top, very muscular! Remember he still has to run 200m, being Arnold Schwarzenegger won't help for that!
guys- they all dope, who won the 200 and smoked a 400 in the olympics? That dude is sus as are all of them.
I still think its just time to make a list of allowed peds. EPO, etc and let them use in public. The Jams are obvious as are most US runners, spain, eth, ken etc.. They are already using in the NCAA and not being tested, its time to acknowledge that and realize that testing is a farce/failure! NFL MLB NCAA NHL FIFA TENNIS do very very little testing. Time to acknowledge that we cannot stop it.
Wrong, tennis does a lot of testing. Federer and Murray were saying that they were being tested +20 times per year.
