I disliked them as a concept coming in but they have made the morning sessions very relevant.
By definition if these were the top athletes they would have gone through from the heat but its a chance for the little guy to snatch a small slice of Olympic Glory with a decent performance.

Lucky for heat one of the hurdles repechage that two go through. The American taking advantage of the rules to jog his heat yesterday. Unfair for whoever comes third here that they have to race him today

She came back to track 2 months after giving birth IIRC. That was ridiculous. She needed to give her body time to adjust to its changes. She never did and is now showing the effects.
4th place closed in sub-60. What did ESP close the 5000m at the trials?
Yeah Hassan closed in 8:23/4:02/2:34/59.0 for a time 4 seconds faster than ESP’s PB. It does not feel to me like St. Pierre would have been in the running for bronze. The top 2 Americans were 15 & 17 seconds behind Hassan…I reckon ESP might have been 7th or 8th.
At her best I think ESP is as good as Batocletti or maybe slightly better. Top 3 is a stretch but good bet for top 5.
