I know you like to pretend LR are the only journalists in the world, but there are many respectable outlets who would like to ask pertinent questions. This is the marquise sprinting event and it only happens every 4 years. Showing up to a post-race presser to answer some questions is not a big ask, it's the professional and adult thing to do. Unfortunately some "fans" have rock bottom expectations on the professionalism of certain athletes. I think that mentality is a disservice to those athletes in the long run. Have adult expectations of adults.

Same goes for all athletes. When Jakob and Josh eventually have their 1500 duel, one man will no doubt be incredibly disappointed afterwards, especially considering how they themselves have built this up with their war of words. I very much look forward to the post-race press conference regardless of the outcome, it would be a very bad look if the loser dodges.

Yep. To her credit, she used also to be a disaster after she won, when, in classic narcissistic fashion, she would attack her alleged enemies. She fixed that at the 2023 Worlds and credit to her for doing so. But I doubt she will ever get over herself enough to be a gracious loser.

All of the Sha'Carri apologists need to understand that handing the press with grace and dignity would prove all her haters wrong. It was an OPPORTUNITY that she squandered again. I'm done with her. I try to find the good in her. I thought the way she handled the World Championships was great. I thought her immediate reaction on the track after this race was good, but then she doesn't want to face questions. Maybe the worst part of this, that I have seen no one talking about, is that Melissa Jefferson also missed the interview. I'm sure she was influenced by Sha'Carri. So, now she is bringing others down with her. Sad. We should be happy for two medals, instead we're talking about this.

it is nothing without the hardcore fans, athletes, coaches, and agents that do their best to ignore the large amounts of garbage he encourages. the man openly admits to using anonymous handles to troll and essentially increase clicks, while being totally ok with a few users constantly leveling baseless doping accusations against high school, college and pro athletes.

that latter point largely being the reason that virtually every pro hates this site and it's "reporters" and even amateur runners are embarrassed to admit to their running friends they come here.

99% of press conference sound bites are uninteresting, and most of the ones that generate any buzz come at the expense of the athlete. No ones interested in a “good” press conference, only bad ones. I probably wouldn’t bother either

If you're a Sha'carri fan it's certainly fair to be disappointed in not seeing her and hearing her thoughts post race. But if you think the majority of posters on this thread fall under the category of 'fans' then I don't know what to tell you.

That's why I ask, why are you all so invested? Sure athletes could handle these situations and perhaps it elevates some peoples perception of the professionalism of the sport.

However, creating a thread purely to dump on an athlete is absolutely useless and harmful. So stop pretending like you care about how these athletes 'mentality' will hurt them in the long run. You don't care about them, you care about concern trolling. Grow up.
