Imagine a 67-yo Carl Lewis standing beside the cauldron in 2028, torch in hand, admiring the adoring crowds. Suddenly, a hologram of 23-yo Carl Lewis wearing his 1984 Olympic uniform walks out and stands beside old Carl, also carrying a torch. They acknowledge the crowds and then turn in unison toward the cauldron, and each touches his torch to the cauldron to light it.
I disagree. They disrespected their country, and the Olympics. I don’t even know what they wanted. I don’t want to see them in the 2028 ceremonies.
I appreciate the honesty in admitting you have no idea what Tommie & John wanted, but then to say you disagree, and that they disrespected their country and the Olympics?!? That's bush league. Spend 3 minutes on the internet, educate yourself, and then respond maybe?
I know they wanted “black power” and were black nationalists. The closed fist salute was one utilized by the Black Panthers, a dangerous collection of thugs and radical Marxists. Turning their face away during the national anthem was intended to disrespect America. I say, “I don’t know what they wanted” because I can’t imagine that they wanted anything rational that America could have possibly given them.

But it should be 84 hologram Carl Lewis/2028 real Carl Lewis and 76 hologram Bruce Jenner/2028 real Caitlyn Jenner.
Then when as the torch is lit, the flames turn into a hologram of a grinning 84 Daley Thompson wearing that famous t-shirt - "Is the world's second greatest athlete ***". Then Daley Thompson appears for real, wearing a t-shirt that says something like - "Is the world's second greatest ever decathlete....?"
Either that, or Seb Coe, and if Jakob wins in Paris, then Coe and Jakob, the two men who have successfully defended the 1500m title.
USC host organizers will likely pick an L.A. athlete. Picking an L.A. athlete is a daunting task given the thousands of legendary athletes in L.A. My pick would be Allyson Felix.
