here is my opinion about nike
1) trainer shoes - they are very good when you first try them on in the store and they are also good in your first few hundred miles, but they do not last. the nike air zoom pegasus 38? that i had was good until the "air" ran out of integrity and the shoe became flat and just a feet protector. the nike zoom oddssey 2? also was the fastest dying shoe that i ever had. around 12-15 years ago was the boom of the nike free where they talked about how this shoe made your feet and legs stronger and that this was the natural form of running. this lead to many people getting injured and lawsuits calling out nike on their BS and the fact that there was no study that indicated any performance uplift after wearing these shoes. overall, nike trainer shoes are mid. overall, i'll give them a C+ or B-
2) racing flats - okay. this is where nike is/was innovative and was about to push out some good performance. the biggest boom in the running world in possibly decades was the release of the nike vaporfly. that thing was a huge setup compared to anything any company released beforehand. one of the greatest things about this shoe was that it was even easier on your feet, which is why despite people hating on it and calling it the "cheaterfly", the health benefits of the shoe was ultimately a positive thing. nike spikes were definitely above average. i wouldn't say that they were the best because despite world records and the lightweightness, the adidas, brooks, and new balance counterparts was ultimately on par and the fact is that many of the top runners only ran in nikes because of sponsor reasons. with that said, nike did push things to the edge with the dragonfly which did set many records. the air zoom victory was ultimately a fail as a middle distance shoe, but i do recognize that jakob's recent 3:26.xx was ran with the air zoom victory 2. it appears that the victories are back.
3) clothes - i don't have much of an opinion about them, but they were mostly positive for me.
with all of that said, nike will bounce back up. it's true that hoka has caught up in the trainer shoe department and ON is possibly gonna crush them in the racing department, but nike was often the first to really invent/innovate things that push athletes to the edge as i have said in the racing flat department.
