I think you really got to watch out for Mira Costa, Ventura and Trabuco. Costa is mainly incoming juniors who have 4:20 miles. Ventura despite losing Fasthorse is still strong. And Trabuco led by Jubak and decent depth can go far.
Tesoro and Hart are other CA boys teams to watch out for. Both teams are returning just about everyone from last year.
Tesoro returns a 9:35 3200 average (with a 42.74 second 1-5 split, and are led by a 9:09 guy Kushen), and Hart returns a 9:37 average (26.8 second 1-5 split). We need to see how this translates to XC though

Ventura has a better setup than Newbury Park for sure.
JSerra just picked up a 1:55, 4:13 (relay), 9:25 runner.....that makes four under 4:20 and a 4:23 by a freshman.
They also have another 4:27 1600 incoming junior, and also another incoming junior who ran a 16:38 5k at CIF but did tennis in the spring instead of track.
That makes them 7-deep, so if one person has an off-day it won’t hurt them as much as it would hurt Oaks Christian.
Oaks Christian got a solid 5th runner who transferred in, but all 5 scorers need to be on when it counts, since they don’t have an amazing 6th and 7th to back them up.

Speaking of Trabuco, it would be great to see Williams bounce back. He was #1 on the team in 2022

Wild. I never knew that Tesoro and San Clemente are in the same school district. There's more talent in that district then most of my state. lol
A new 3 mile national xc record could go down this year. Not Impossible considering Colin Sahlman ran 14:03 5k at Huntsville Park which would convert to 13:34 3 mile. 13:39 3 mile is definitely in reach

Mira Costa sure did a good job reloading from the 2022 season after graduating so many guys
Last Year, Great Oak and Ventura were the top 2 California boys teams at Woodbridge. Then at the state meet, Ventura wasn’t in contention, and Great oak had to wait hours after the state meet to see if they get to go to NXN or not.
A lot can happen between Woodbridge and the state meet

Perez, Fasthorse and Noonan went 1-2-3 at woodbridge last year but the lost badly and was not competitive at the national level. Jason Parra and Josiah Tostenson were 50th and 94th at Woodbridge but finished their season off as nationally ranked runners placing 8th and 17th at nationals.
