NXN 2024 Girls

they are originally from Colorado and moved to Texas a few years ago. that rumor keeps going around but I have yet to hear it substantiated. interestingly Elin ran as a "Colorado athlete" at Hoka while her sisters ran as "Texas athletes". I cant imagine they would move just the fast kid back to Colorado, especially since they are two sets of twins and very close knit, but who knows.

For sure. Adams only managed 4:53/10:51 in track season. Jorde, Brandt, just need to see more from those three. Keeghan, From, and Guiberson pretty proven. But I can see stronger 4-5 runners across the country.

What about incoming freshman Elin Latta (who ran a 4:45 1600) mentioned earlier in this thread?

Her PR is 17:24 so if the rumors are true then that is an insane top 5.

I didn’t realize you could tell the length of spikes by just looking at the sides and tops of the shoes. And long spikes work on the Nike spikes as well. ;)

Agreed. If all this lines up and Elin Latta really is going to Vista, not only will Vista win NXN, they will go down as one of the greatest teams in the history of HS girls cross country.

Are all these sub 18 times from last xc season? curious because if we are comparing to last XC season I think it’s notable. If we are saying some of these sub 18s are 2 years ago then we need to reevaluate.

It’s tough for me to view some of these high school teams that are stacked with recruits “the greatest.” As someone who has been around for a long time, I just know so many coaches and teams who have put in the work year after year to build very solid teams without depending on transfers and recruits. Those teams deserve more credit. But over the years, we are seeing a big change and these super teams are here to stay. If you what to get on the podium at NXN m, you are going to have to get in that sort of game now for sure. The Colorado and CA schools have started figuring that out.

This transfer ridiculousness started in 2017 when Loudoun Valley got 2 scoring transfers and won NXN, then in 2018 they got even more transfers

Actually Combes times weren't super impressive in track and her best times came from liberty Bell. Does Vista have anyone else close to her? My guess is no. They might need their 6/7 to step up

Yes you are right. Vista does have another girl with an 18:16 PR named Gabriela Boeckman. But, she didn't have the greatest track times, just like Combe.That 18:16 also came from the alleged "short course" in Grand Junction. Combe may not have had the best track times, but she did have to race JV as she was a transfer so she didn't have much competition.

Ok, that makes sense. Some people are just better XC athletes then track. After more research, I see that they have a few more girls that are under 19 or close.

Anyone know if Braelyn Combe of Santiago and Riley Combe of Vista are related? It's a pretty rare last name. They both made it to NXN. Kinda cool if they happen to be cousins, a few states apart from one another.

Vista also has Carly Christians who was their fifth runner at NXN.
