This workout was not impressive at all for a 3:43 miler. I knew a 4:00ish miler who could possibility do that if his life depended on it. I'd be surprised if he broke 3:46 or even 3:48 at Pre.

Having said that I loved the video. There are a couple of things:
* This is clearly a Coros paid collaboration workout. Flotrack has been doing interviews with other athletes asking about the data in their Coros watches. So it was a bit to show off the watch, HR band and the Pod. He was wearing the whole lot. I must say they are a good value for money. There was one rep though that the HR was faulty (too high)
The dude had probably done a T session in the morning, so you should not see this as a maxed out workout, and it was windy.
The HR must be average HR in the rep, and I was impressed on how controlled he kept the last 400s. HR remained stable, where it usually tends to go up in each rep.
Let's be real, Flotrack paid Jakob a handsome amount of money to film that workout. SweatElite won't ever compete with Flotrack in terms of funding. Matt Fox can complain all he wants on IG but when rubber hits the road you need cash to get the top players on your stream.
he said he ran 30k total that day so wasnt going to be impressive. he probably had another workout session same day at threshold and the first half of this session was explicitly threshold intervals. he also mentions it is like a transition srssion between base mileage and competition period of more intense workouts

He looks ... fat. Way bigger than I would expect someone to look two weeks before the first big meet of the year. He looks like he's carrying around 10 pounds of beer weight.
This workout filmed by Flotrack shows Jakob doing 12x400 (60sec) then 10x200 (200 jog) in Flagstaff before pre classic this Sunday. He was doing the 400s between 61 high to 63 and his he was decently low. He also states that the total volume for the day was 30k.
He also gives us some incite into racing and other parts of running. Definitely a must watch
Finally Flotrack giving us some decent content FOR FREE!!!
Was this Workout done at 7000 ft? If so, this guy is gonna break 343 and 7:20 this season or the next. I mean, he makes these paces look so easy.
High altitude like 7000 ft doesn't affect short intervals like 200/ 400s so much. Same with my elite Kenyans at similar altitude. My now best Kenyan did 15x 400m at 58-59 sec with 60 sec rest a month ago......
Jakob seem to be over top shape level at the moment due to his setback injury he had during building phase. Would really surprise me if he make a very top result at Pre..... LRC headcoach Wizard J.S. 🇸🇪🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪
Yeah... except hes at 7000 ft, and has another 20k in distance for the day before that workout. And is probably averaging about 100-110 miles at this point
I should hope he is relaxed - in his base, after doing a morning session of 2k LT, he would do 25 x 400 in 63-64 (30sec rec). So 12 x 61 to 63 should be a walk in the park with 60sec rec.
I agree that the paces he was hitting seemed slightly slower than I would expect from a 3:43 miler. He also stated, “That was pretty tough” after the 400s. The 200s looked good, but even someone out of shape can crush 10x200m.
