AS someone else pointed out, at the same meet that the athletes were disqualified for having different logos on their shorts, numerous girls team had their shorts folded down 2-3 times at the waist and bare midriff. Go figure.

Without Irving, CT track would be back three decades. If he knew the girl had chemo, he would have backed off. Ever enter anyone in the triple jump, decathlon, steeplechase, hammer throw? All brought courtesy of Irving. What did he yell at you once? Probably for being incapable of teaching your kids how to follow the rules.

You know what's ridiculous? The fact that you can't spell ridiculous, and you claim to have been working with kids for 32 years. Get an education.

I coach in CT as well. I can tell you that Irv is a good guy at heart, but he has turned as many people off to track as he has turned on. Back 3 decades? Surely you're kidding? What Irv did for track put a buck in Irv's pocket. I remember him charging us for meet results when we paid $50.00 to enter a single kid.

The state open and state meets in CT are a joke. Care to explain why Irv closes off the stands for the last 30 m of the 100m straight? I know. It's so he could put a camera there right? Now park your truck on the other side of the finish line and put a tent up. anybody have any idea who won that close race?

Hope I didn't spell anything wrong here. I'd hate to have my coaching credentials called into question over my failure to spellcheck. You sir are probably one of those members of what we used to call the CT track mafia. The ones who can coach their athletes during the state meets from right on the track because "Irv and I are butt buddies." It is people like you who teach their athletes all the wrong ideals.

I do know Irving. And I respect Irving. I do not coach from the infield, I coach from the stands. So that bitter, jealous people like you don't question our relationship. And where would you like him to put the camera? And would you please tell me how your can read the picture with the sun blazing on the computer screen? You can see the race just fine from 20 meters out.

And you obviously have no idea how expensive the Omega system is. Other timing companies will come on and let you know that FAT work is a break even business. But I'd expect that kind of ignorant response from the northeast corner of the state.

Sounds like the type of personality who would defend Mr. Black. From those of us who don't hate women nor feel the need to stifle an adolescent's freedom of expression (and violently at that), Mr. Black has done much to alienate an entire state of coaches, athletes and fans.

The Street, You had better add the NW and SW corners of the state as well. I have been at meets of all levels on every continent on this planet and have never seen a finish line closed off like Irv's. Perhaps it is you that should seek further education. By the way the statement, "tell me how your can read the camera..." doesn't make much sense. I would question the sanity of anyone that would be jealous of either you or Irv.

It's easy to be recognized by dying your hair, getting a tattoo, mutilating your face. You just need a little money and a little time. Obviously, I won't see any of the athletes you coach at the decathlon or steeple, because if you bring them, then you validate Irving.

See, all you Irv haters need to work just one meet. Have you ever tried to read the results of a race when the sun is shining on the computer screen, jack-ass? I'm sure not, or else you wouldn't be making such an idiot statement. You can't .... and that's why the tent is there. Now, at Willowbrook Park, he fences off the stands so he can run the camera cable up to the press box, so there is no sun. The MEET DIRECTOR sets the tent up on the field, Einstein. Go ahead, sit up in the stands, bitch, bitch, bitch, and don't get the whole story. Yeah, your right, people all over the state don't like Irv. My favorite part is the passionate defense of Irv (whoever that is) because he didn't know the girl he was trying to DQ for wearing a hat was a cancer patient. If it wasn't pathetic and stupid, it'd be damn funny. Memo to Irv: getting bent out of shape about a teenage girl running in a baseball cap is an ugly thing, even without the cancer part.

You'll need to run that by me again, the part where a clean-cut athlete's performance is somehow tarnished if a competitor is wearing a nose ring. I'm having trouble following the logic. These damn kids with their dyed hair and nose-rings! Okay, Gramps. It's a great thing to judge somebody by their appearance. Personally, I don't care what kids do with their hair or their nose, as long as they work hard, run well, and are good sports. But, then, I'm not from Connecticut.

The best part is apparently "the street" wanted to rip a nose ring out of a kid in practice, as we don't have meets for another two + weeks. With that kind of abusive intolerance, I wouldn't be surprised if "the street" was Mr. Black. As to my athletes being at The deca or steeple, no they won't be there. As to how many of your will be be at New England's, I'm guessing not many; the days of the effective draconian coach are dwindling. Unlike twenty years ago, the successful coaches these days, at least out here, tend to be pretty decent people.

Have you considered turning the monitor a few degrees so that the sun's glare does not affect the view?

I'm not from CT, but I am deeply impressed by what I'm hearing about Irv. I don't think some of you appreciate how hard it must be to run a meet while simultaneously scanning every athlete for offending eyebrow rings and hats, engaging in shouting matches with athletes and coaches, and defending your turf from interlopers. All while fending off sunshine! He must be some kind of superman.
