Also, who is actually going to get the standard besides Monson and Gebreselama, Warner-Judd? Schweizer, Infeld, Kelati, Galvan? Hall, D'Amato?
As far as US women getting the standard, Kelati. That's it.
With Belgrade ahead, Kelati will unlikely overwork herself riding the MonGeb train and instead target a safer 30:2X finish, imo. This isn't a proper race, so maybe she gets help with the pacing work and guides a few standard seekers to a happy win on this front.
Per JG's article just posted tonight (3/14 Thu), pace lights for Monson now set for 29:37.
I curious as to what makes Monson and Ritz think that she is capable of running 29:37. That's a massive drop from her PR.
She's run a 14:19 5000m. Also most women who have run sub 30 had huge drops in their PBs to do so.
Sifan Hassan: 30:17-->29:36
Letesenbet Gidey: 30:21-->29:01
Tirunesh Dibaba: 31:03-->29:54
Alice Aprop: 30:26-->29:53
Most of those who didn't significantly drop their PB to run sub 30 ran that fast on their debut (Tsegay, Gezahegne, Nawowuma). Based on Monson's form over 5000m I think its very possible for her to run well under 30 minutes for 10000
As of yesterday there were 37 entrants in the men's Paris race but now that's down to 36. Was wondering who was removed. Now we know.
30 entrants still in the women's Paris race.
Both races will look like cross country meets on the track.
Expect a few men to be lapped in the men's race -- those that are at/under 27:00 will be lapping those a minute back.
However, most of the women will be lapped by Alicia & whomever goes with her targeting that 29:45. Women's Paris race will look pretty messy.
Pacers still to be announced. Men's pacers have been speculated in above posts. For women -- given OAC's support for this meet -- Josette Norris may be a candidate presuming she's not taking down time now from Glasgow.
Weather forecast for San Juan Capistrano around 9 pm Saturday evening: 57 deg, 3 mph breeze, 35% humidity. Perfect as usual.
There is NO way Andrews can handle that pace. Not even close. She would need to pace under 15. and that’s a good race for her not a pacing job. Ritz already said he’s out of ideas who can pace Monson.
I was excited to come home to this tonight, I don’t know why I thought it was Friday. There was some video with Nico where someone said there was less than 6 days from NCAA’s to the Ten so I thought it was tonight. 🤪

At the time, just speculating as to whom could rabbit Monson thru at sub-15/5k split.
Only US woman who could possibly do that is Cranny but appeared she was not going to be at The TEN (which was a correct assumption.)
As we have subsequently learned, former Razorback Taylor Werner/Puma Elite is Monson's pacer.
However, given her prs of 8:51/3k and 15:03/5, suspect she will only get to 3k -- maybe 4k if she's feeling great -- before stepping aside.
Pacing lights -- and maybe Alicia's new training partner Tsigie (sp?) -- will be the real rabbits.
The women's 1500m is pretty light but Lauren Gregory is racing for the first time since she broke her foot during 2023 NCAA indoors. Glad to see her back.
No one from Team Boss is running most likely bc Cory McGee is getting married this weekend.
Didn't know about Cory's marriage, thx for that update.
Figured Cranny wasn't rabbiting due to complete absence of any mention of The TEN on Team Boss/athletes' social media accounts. Which was correct figuring.

Valby
Ha ha. Maybe.
Better be happy PV is not pacing.
SR pays for pacers, so if Parker was pacing tomorrow, she'd would have turned pro, thus not be eligible for her final season of outdoor track.
In any case, Valby, Cranny, D'Amato, Infeld all attended last night's Nike tribute at the LA Coliseum to Joan Samuelson on the eve of her 1984 LA Oly marathon 40th anniversary victory.
So, while Kara & Emily will be racing tomorrow night, expect Parker & Elise to be recognizable faces in the crowd.

First of all, pacers are not forced to take payment, so Valby could have paced and elected to not get paid.
Second, while there is a good chance that Elise Cranny will be at The TEN since she knows many of the pro runners, I don't see why Parker Valby would go there. Valby is a college student, she doesn't know most of the runners, and she has classes in Florida and meets happening soon that she needs to prepare for.
