Have been vocal about doping being rife in all levels of the sport, especially ultrarunning, especially US ultrarunning. There's lots of extrodinary results that draw plenty of suspicion in my opinion.
My cynical side just says they want to start their own organization and race to get a larger cut.
I mean, guys like Tim Tollefson complaining about UTMB now he got dumped by Hoka and has his own race to promote AND he no longer has a concern about being the first American male to win (like he was going to anyway)..? Hmmm….
Reminds me of Tommy Rivs posting on Tracksmiths Insta about their cringey Boston drama inducing post, commenting about how they should be more inclusive meanwhile his Craft pro model shoe is like $300+ 🫠
Anyway doesn’t seem like UTMB is hurting if they’re saying more people than ever have pre-registered for this years race. As I said, apart from Kilian this seems to be a North American gripe and no one anywhere else seems to care.

I don't understand the response to the Corrine firing. In what job should an employee or contractor expect to be allowed to publicly criticize their employer while continuing to be paid?
Kilian is Kilian. He doesn’t need UTMB wins to add to his resume. He has 4. As for Zach, well it’s funny how once an American male won, all the American males are now looking to boycott UTMB.
This all kicked off because of that Whistler race, which well, if you lose the permit to hold your race, that’s now UTMB’s fault? Maybe take it up with the local authority that hand out the permits.
Literally no trail runners outside of USA/Canada care about this “boycott”. For the rest of the world UTMB put on large scale, well organised events that are usually pricey but also the main event in that particular country/regions race calendar. I’m in Australia and no one else has even heard of this boycott and everyone I know who has secured an entry to one of the races is going.
I'm in Australia, and you are not our spokesman. Many runners here are supportive of any push back against Ironman/UTMB. Ironman are taking over trail and road races here, and the service to athletes has declined rapidly.

Don’t do their races then. There are plenty of alternatives to City2Surf or UTA. There are like 5 other races you can do on the UTA course alone run by smaller groups if you want to race in the upper BM. Running Wild alone organise 3.
It’s crazy to say they are taking over Australian trail racing. They hold 2 races in Australia. Which means like maybe 1% of our trail races. Stop supporting the current trail thing and think for yourself.

What are you talking about? It's hard enough to find strong competition in a small market. We're fortunate enough to find a contest at UTA, and 6 foot in NSW.
2 Bays Trail in Victoria had a good Top 2 women in the short race last weekend. Sometimes you get lucky at Buffalo. Mostly it's just a few big fish in a small pond dodging competitors to protect their brand.
'RW', you are a clueless idiot, that's a social race. Yes occasionally some fast locals turn up, but they are not 'racing'.
No one cares about PED use, Sage. Absolutely zero. There is no significant prize money and no data to support any PED use would help in the mountains. It’s you vs the terrain. I never cared about a soul at Chamonix. Just me.

WHAT?? Are you saying a 100 mile race for time is a skill sport, like darts or billiards, and some good 'ol epo would help you go faster? Apparently just bragging rights has "competitors " getting car rides.
i have an appartment that overlooks a significant amount of the tmb trail and therefore the race.
noone gives a damn about the 'name' runners, esp the fraud killian jornet and the ped advocate jeff etc.
its all about the mountains and the event.
we dont need primadonnas. esp ones who cant tell if they have summitted or taken peds.
Is this imaginary apartment on top of the mountain?
No, it's to the south of the mont blanc massif. You can also see pierra menta in the photo, one of the big three ultra trail runs. The gr5 runs down the mountain on the left.

She wasn't an employee, she had a verbal contract to commentate on a few races a year, that's all.
If they employed her all year round it's different.Listen to her when she commentates,no bad words at all.
When she isn't employed she is entitled to an opinion.

It's sad state of affairs when someone (who claims to be a former "#2 ranked Ultra Runner Mag Athlete") says this kind of untrue statement.
It's like they are trying to justify and normalize doping (with powerful PEDs) at the top level?
You might as well jump in a car for 5-miles and cut the course during a 100-mile ultra. It's cheating either way and if you really did that you probably have been robbing other runners (not just of ranking or overall prize money, but of possible sponsorship contracts and dreams).

You're going to catch flack for this post, but I think your point about the race being fine without the top 15 elites is correct.
I don't know anything about PEDs, and I'm not interested.
What DOES interest me is... what effect could Killian, et al., have on the development of another major mountain running event? Let's say they could identify an amazing landscape with a very cool event that is not already massive (i.e., not Hardrock or something similar), could they possibly draw attention to an up-and-coming race being organized by good people and help to create yet another major annual event? Ultrarunning's majors are already overrun. There needs to be more supply to meet the demand.
I'm very cool with UTMB continuing to exist. I hope they discontinue the kinds of behaviors they have been accused of. But, more variety in the annual race calendar would be welcome.
If the top pros consistently skip UTMB, then it hurts its prestige BIG time. It may not hurt the revenue, certainly in the short term but I'm convinvced if the NYC marathon didn't have pros, eventually it would become the marine corps marathon or bay to breakers. It's a fun local event - end of story. Of course, revenue wise, it may not change much of anything.

Sure some runners develop in the 100 mile distance later on in life, but it’s a bit phishy a certain “bronco” improved that much (not impossible but a bit odd). It reads exactly like the way he talks, too. Come on man.

“No significant money” dude off your reputation as an elite runner you charge a **** ton of money for your monthly coaching business. It made you a living whether you are on steroids or not. We all know the prize money per race isn’t how trail runners earn their living.

"no data to support any PED use would help in the mountains", I'm pretty sure that certain TdF riders would love to have known that when Lance was winning mountain stages with a team doped to the gills.
Yes, you have to have technical abilities, but the benefits of EPO and testosterone (among other PEDs) have been proven for decades now.

Is that you Jeff?
If so I do remember you being quite vocal about *not* wanting PED testing for top ranked runners in a certain email thread. Now why would that be?
Dopers are like course cutters. They are cheaters that don't follow the rules and they are living a lie.
meat, ketones and zero drop shoes. I can't remember which makes Jeff run faster in his mid forties after being a mid packer in his 30's. Still seems to be running very well in his 50's with more muscle and less body fat. plus, his income relies on coaching, sponsorship and social media. can't imagine why he'd be against testing.

Who is Jeff and why are people talking about Jeff and his alleged doping?
