LRC note: We texted a college coach today (11/22/2023) and he confirmed that Baloga (Colorado) and Watcke (Oregon) are in the portal. However, the thread stating Rheinhardt Harrison in the portal is not true. He isn't in it.
Slightly misleading, since the only HSers in the world to run 1600m are Americans- no other countries run this non-existent distance (convert to either Miles -an actual College indoor distance - or 1500m).
Abdallahi Hassan ran 46.83/ 1.47.59/3.52.72 (= sub-4.10 1600) as a HS Junior (G11), he didn't have a G12 season (HS Senior) because of COVID, so ran only a few low-key meets. Rob Heppenstall ran 47.97/ 1.47.91/3.45.85 (= 4.02 1600m), G12 (HS Senior) Pretty sure at least a few others from other countries have done the same.
If you had said AMERICAN HSers, that would have been accurate, and less arrogant.
Btw, Brazier and Watcke are the only high schoolers EVER to run under 48 seconds for 400 AND 4:10 for 1600.

It’s not arrogant, it called context. The idea that it is American HSers is implicit. You would seem to understand this concept, as you used the pronoun “he” in your post, which is context dependent. Don’t you guys call it “secondary school” or whatever anyways?
Kipchoge ran 12:52 to win a world championship at 18, in a conversation about Lex Young no one would tell you Kipchoge actually holds the HS record.
Your claim that 1600m is a “non-existent distance”, is wrong,it is a quantifiable, measurable distance. Talking about 1600 as a racing distance, it has been by raced by probably millions of people, so it exists. Running 4 even laps around the track has always made more sense than 3 and 3/4 of a lap anyways.
A more important question is, what the hell has gone wrong at Oregon that led Dan to leave? They are right now going nowhere fast, so his departure seems wise- his freshman class is not accomplishing much yet. I think he did the right thing.
I would love to know what his HS coach thinks of it. You just don't leave Jerry, you just don't. When he goes for his contract Capriotti will remember it.

Great to see him running so well at Villanova already after transferring during his freshman year. Marcus O'Sullivan showed how considerate he is of the long-term development of his runners by not using him in the 400m or 1500m, where he could have picked up significant points (400m was won in 47.13, 1500m in 3:39). Surprising to see how far back the other great 800m/1500m freshman, Tinoda Matsatsa, was (1:51 with a 59s second lap). Is he ill or coming off an injury?
I agree about Michigan being an obvious option. From other posts, I'm assuming that mom is Molly McClimon, who was an excellent runner at Michigan; and dad is a former Kansas runner who did some post-grad running in Ann Arbor with John Scherer/Brad Barquist training under Warhurst.
In addition, it seems like Sullivan has a good stable of young middle distance runners at Michigan (McFarland, Brown, Claw, O'Reilly, etc) who are all 1:47-1:50 guys (McFarland also has run 3:40). Most of his mid-distance guys are underclassman and he has a 1:49 high schooler as well as a 4:06 high schooler committed.
Seems like a reasonable option for transfer if he wants to get back to the Midwest.
Sorry....I'm an idiot who responded before reading the whole thread. I didn't know that he had already transferred mid season. Looks like he made a good choice....
