well it lets them sell commercials and still show races uninterrupted, so.......
I'm impressed that ESPN is actually treating this as a real athletic event.
they are doing well. they still are explaining more to laypersons rather than assuming a basic amount of fan knowledge like other sports do. and why was john grisham there? whatever. what they aren't doing is promoting it online at all. it was pretty hard to find
What team did they just say doesn't know who's racing until after they warm up? That's got to be so stressful.
Oklahoma State. That’s crazy if it’s true.
I would be a hot mess waiting to know I if I was racing. And if I didn't get picked I would be crying my eyes out. I don't know how a team can operate effectively under that condition.
Does Dave Smith really not tell the 7 who are running they are running until 20 minutes before the race or is the broadcast wrong?
That's what Dave Smith said in the press conference yesterday. Something along the lines of he has 4 runners who are definitely racing, 1 definitely not racing, leaving 5 guys to decide for 3 spots, which he'll choose with 20 minutes before the race. He also said that each of those 5 athletes sometimes in the season indicated a top 30 performance, and at other times, they indicated more like 200th place. Appreciate that honesty and candidness from him.
Did anyone see the porta-potty configuration? It seems highly inefficient; basically a U configuration with a single line at the open end of the U. This could be the biggest problem for the day.
Dave Smith mentioned it in the press conference yesterday too. So needlessly stressful for the 3 or 4 runners on the margin. Coach must have a power trip.
