These threads about Wiley are always taken off of the rails by Wiley fans. Until post #48, above, there was no mention of Tuohy. There were no Tuohy fans here bagging on Wiley. As usual, Wiley fans start taking digs at Tuohy.
Wiley is doing well. Why don't you just enjoy that?
I started the thread with just that purpose, acknowledging she won by 12 seconds and mentioning the team champion. But you can't deny people started attacking Wiley first, then of course retaliation by Wiley fans. They may or may not be Tuohy fans but it's expected if people attack your favorite there's going to be push back. This whole website is pretty much based on that dynamic.
Touché
I won't disagree, but there are always the Wiley trolls, like the user that goes by the name of "Wiley is silky fast."
Earlier in the thread, "Wiley is silky fast" made the statement that she would probably finish 4th or 5th at the NCAA XC meet. He also hinted that Wiley was superior to Mu. I countered with this (under the username of "Great athlete but no") -
"First of all, that's great that she is the NAIA champion. It's a big accomplishment. She is also a fantastic 800 & 1500 runner though not yet in Mu's class. Will she ever reach Mu's class? I would like to see it happen but it's a big unknown.
That said, Wiley would be about 1:15 to 1:30 off the pace of the leaders of the NCAA XC meet tomorrow even if she were to run it fresh. For the top teams, she would not even be in the top 5. I'm not bagging on her. Just being realistic. XC & distances over 3000 on the track are not Wiley's bailiwick."
That is not a dig at Wiley but still got 13 downvotes. I was actually very supportive of her while being realistic. 'Wiley is silky fast" always uses a bunch of over-the-top hyperbole expressly with the intent of trolling.
"rbtrackfan," a known Touhy fan had this to say "You can't do any better than win, so congrats to her."
Personally I am not a fan of Tuohy, Valby, Wiley, the NAU men, the NAU women, the NC State women, Jakob, Mu, Hodgkinson, or any other top performer of the sport. I am just a fan of the sport, in general. I like to see great performances regardless of who they are coming from.
I suspect that a lot of the derision that is on this forum and that is directed toward Wiley is not coming from fans of Tuohy. It is being directed at Wiley due to circumstances that I do not need to mention. I will cede that "astro" has been very outspoken about Wiley but astro is just one person and does not represent all Tuohy fans. Additionally, if you have noticed, astro has been conspicuously absent from Wiley threads due to, what I suspect to be, having his hand slapped and put in timeout by the adm of this forum due to his overzealous bashing of Wiley.
This was Addy's first XC race all season. That's wild.
I'm sick of all the grandiose baiting posts on every board pertaining to Addy. SHe's a great runner but we are all aware as to why there is so much suspicion and dissent around her. Can we please act like it? That's not a knock on Addy, there are legitimate concerns surrounding her here.

i like the vibe of most of what you are saying, but what do you mean by "that's wild?" im asking, not criticizing!
a sub 4 in the 1500 running a 21 minute 6k isn't wild. that she even bothers to run this race after not participating all season maybe is a bit wild.
What place did Tuohy get at the Brussels Diamond League this year? [Wiley 8th] Or the World Road Racing Championships? [Wiley 9th] Or at Gala dei Castelli? [Wiley 2nd] Or USATF Indoors? [Wiley 4th] Or USATF Outdoors? ]Wiley 5th] Or USATF Road Mile? ]Wiley 4rd] Or NACACs? [Wiley 1st] Or Ed Murphey? [Wiley 1st] Or Music City? [Wiley 1st] Or Camel City [Wiley 1st] Or Beale Street Mile? [Wiley 1st]
No, it doesn’t mean that Farah would be 5th at the NCAAs but perhaps Wiley’s performance history will clue you in to what her ceiling above the 1500 on the track actually is.
