Makes total sense to me that Martin would have a different relationship to his father than the other three - Gjert wasn’t his coach. The father-coach dilemma was clearly the cause of all conflict.

Actually he kinda was coached by Gjert - for a few years. Maybe from age 7 til 12 or 13. Go n watch team ingebrigtsen. But we can all see that Martin is uncomfortable n does not want to be an athlete. Its a bit awkward to watch at times (thinking about when they get asked about aspirations etc prior to a cross country skiing race) n Martin is shyly ducking the questions. Actually, if anyone would resent Gjert i thought it would be Martin, solely judged on the series. But as i have stated before, nobody really knows what happened (excluding the involved...)...

Despite the TV show, they still could have still kept all this private, but when you denied Gjert entrance to a stadium for his athlete Nordas...then you just pushed this into the public eye.

If the rumors are true about what the final straw was, it's pretty clear what Ingrid's opinion would be.

With apologies to Martin, he did not endure years and years of elite, high level, high pressure athletics and coaching the way Filip, Henrik and Jakob did, and so was in much less of a position to be exposed to the purported toxic controlling coach/father. Likewise his father may have been kinder to Martin simpler because Martin had fewer opportunities to disobey or rebel against him, and so Martin would have appeared more supportive and respectful as a result. In any case, glad to hear another siblings perspective; he must have felt conflicted posting it, since he despised the situation being a public spectacle.

We'll probably never fully understand their unique situation, as Tolstoy said "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."

I don't see them making it up. They should be on top of the world. Jakob running well, just got married, perfect. Then this. It's just horrible. I don't think they'd actively want to bring this shiit into their lives. Of course none of us know the ins and outs but it sounds like whatever happened with Ingrid was the final straw. The rest of the stuff sounds very long term from what they describe. Then this precipitating factor for all of the changes and then explanations they had to provide to the press.

It's just sad.

The doesn't "expose" the other brothers. It might mean that he had a different experience, or it might mean that one side is telling the truth and the other isn't. It certainly doesn't prove that the three running brothers are wrong.

Why don't you lot give us some facts about THIS situation rather than many of the totally unrelated siituations. I have seen multiple of these types of facts spouted as if they are an argument when they wouldn't even reach the status of circumstantial evidence in court.

Once again. If what Ingrid says is true why not press charges? If it results in the breakup of the family and it’s illegal in Norway, why not go to court?

court systems don’t deliver justice they deliver vengeance and expose all concerned to drawn out unpredictable processes and costs.

seems to me that stepping away or cutting ties is a simple trauma-limiting start to a process of analysis and healing. It needn’t even be eternal.

Even the great victories of the year for Jacob could be cathartic, opening them up to reflection on how they got to those peaks, to thinking whether that victory was worth the pain and loss. I imagine such reflection may draw one to think, how could I do this differently in the future? How could I win *and* be happier, a better person or sibling.

This doesn’t seem an unreasonable quest at all.
