I’m a female Ethiopian teen who is a junior is high school and I started running as a freshmen. My first mile was a 6:40 then I improved it and now it’s 4:50 My 1500 meter is 4:39 tho.
my 5k time is better than my mile5k time = 17:12 minutes
2 mile time = 10:30
I win my meets by a minute ahead usually, I also made a couple of state titles before. I’m the top of my team too. My whole team respects me and I respect them. For you to say that Ethiopians are this good because we must be “doping” pisses me off. I worked my ass off to get to where I am right now. While my teammates where messing their long runs, I was out training my heart out up in the mountains.
While my teammates are messing around walking during practice, I was out working hard. That’s why I’m good at running. So stop with all the conspiracies cuz it’s fake. My mom and dad also are runners. But not as much now but my dad, in his prime, ran a 13:28 5k and my mom ran a 16:30 5k. My brother is a soccer player but his time is 15:57 for 5k when I forced him to do an 5k race with me. My family, they are amazing people, they wouldn’t even dream of doing such things. Accept that we work harder than you, all my family members are hard workers. I have white friends who complain about sucking but they didnt put nearly as much effort as me. And guess what ? They started faster. I know a girl who started with a 6:10 minute mile and I was 6:40 she was 30 seconds faster than me. Now she is still around the same pace but I improved and the difference between me and her isn’t talent or cheating. It’s the fact that she never works hard. All she does is just complain then mess around during long runs. She also says she hates running yet still does it every year. She also begs me to slow down during runs for her. As a sophomore, I slowed down for her but my coach made me run with guys that season because they’re the only one that could keep my pace. The girls team sucks in my high school. We have 6 girls and all run their 5ks at 24 minute flat, only one freshmen has a chance of breaking 20. They cost us a ton of points to. But to say that all this is because we are cheating is absurd. Look at what you are doing wrong before blaming people out of jealousy.
Wanted to summarize this bloated post
"The text is written by a high school junior from Ethiopia who is an accomplished runner. She recounts her progress and achievements in the field, citing her 5k time as 17:12 minutes, her 2-mile time as 10:30, and her 1500 meter time as 4:39. She mentions that she is usually a minute ahead in her meets and has won state titles. She also notes that her parents were runners and that her brother can run a 5k in 15:57.
She expresses frustration at accusations of doping and argues that her success is due to her hard work and dedication, not cheating. She compares her training ethic to her teammates, stating that while they may slack off, she trains rigorously in the mountains. She also discusses the contrast between her and a peer who started faster than her but did not improve because she did not put in the same level of effort.
The author criticizes her high school girls' team for their lack of performance, with all members running their 5ks at 24 minutes flat and only one freshman potentially breaking the 20-minute mark. She dismisses accusations of cheating as jealousy, urging those making such claims to examine their own shortcomings."
