What is the line that divides "things you don't care about" switches to "things you care about?" Or like, what are a few things just to either side of that line -- what are a few things you almost but don't quite care about and what are a few things you just barely care about? Genuinely curious.
He'll care about this if/when the Dem media changes their mind about this issue. Dem voters wait for their instructions from their overlords, they 100% give up all of their free-will to think clearly and independently for themselves. So for now, this guy doesn't care about boys taking from girls even though in many other scenarios I bet he claims he's a "champion for women's rights".
I disagree with the Dem party on almost every issue, but unfortunately my two choices are crooked dems or n@zi repubs so I'm stuck.
But nothing is being taken from girls, if that was truly your worry, you could give dual prizes. Nothing is stopping the NCAA from giving Lia and the second place finisher a NCAA champ trophy apiece.
This issue is 100% just about targeting transgender and maybe some of you are too big of sycophants to realize it, but if your only concern was your perceived 'fairness' in women's sports you wouldn't all hate non-binary divisions so much and you'd come up with other solutions that didn't target marginalized children.
From the article: Ironically, the ‘Gender Equity and Inclusion Policy’ in the Maine Principals Association Handbook states athletes “should have the opportunity to participate in MPA activities in a manner that is consistent with their gender identity, unless such participation would result in an unfair athletic advantage.”
"unless such participation would result in an unfair athletic advantage"
....???????? what planet are these fools on where this boy doesn't have an unfair athletic advantage over girls? it's ridiculous
99% of the people that are against it are against it for fair play reasons. They aren't against it because the kid is trans.
The f*** if they are. One kid isn't ruining that race for the others unless they've been convinced of that by their bigoted parents.
Mondo's dad was a pole vaulter and the advantages he got growing up dwarf any advantages a transgender athlete might have.
If this wasn't some awful attempt at trying to make transgender people 'evil.' State high school leagues could easily award dual medals to any CIS genders kids who might be displaced by transgender kids. This is about trying to get one historically marginalized group to target another marginalized group.
You are absolutely wrong. It’s a fair play issue that you are trying your hardest to turn into a social justice issue.
I guarantee you that the vast majority of people don’t care that kid is trans. They are much more focused on proving a fair playing field for all the biological women that participate in sports.
It makes it easier for you if you demonize the people seeking fair play. But that’s fantasy.

What would be unfair about giving a second medal to trans athlete equal to their place? Ex. Give out two fifth place medals if that’s where they finished. Problem solved nobody excluded, nobody loses their place?
I think I speak for a lot larger group of Dems when I say I do not care at all. The fact that somebody is posting about the 5th ranked cross country runner in Maine as if this is a critical political issue makes me thankful we are making the planet uninhabitable.
We as a species should drive ourselves to extinction as soon as possible.
With regard to your title, first, there would be few to no women's sports without Democrats to pass and enforce Title IX, and second, even if some Democrats support the inclusion of trans- athletes into the female division, few athletes so far have been involved and many Democrats reject the notion that this is equity.
What happened to the two California trans girls who were bullied out of the State final last year? Are they competing in XC?
I looked it up
Athena Ryan has run 20:42 for 3 miles this XC season (grade 12). She was running 18:32 for 5000m last year and 17:15 two year ago (she was running as a boy two years ago).
Loreli Barrett has not run XC this year. She was running 18:23 for 5000m last year (grade 10).
Not sure if we can say that this is the end of women sport. A little dramatic.

Nobody is saying that one example of two trans runners in 2022 California HS cross country alone constitutes the end of women's sport. But the thinking behind advocating their inclusion is what worries people. The slope here is slippery, and my injustice meter blares at decisions like these. If the madness doesn't stop... yes, women's sports are threatened.

you are correct. in fact, the REAL trans community is dope as fk & they primarily wish to be left alone / are definitely NOT trying to push their agenda on kids etc...
unfortunately the trans community has been hijacked by outsiders seeking $$ & clout - these ppl aren't allies, they're scumbag grifters who need to continually make up new oppressed groups to fundraise "for"

What slippery slope hurt you people? I hear this every damn day, and I can’t comprehend why you’re all so afraid of inclines.

Huh? Can you explain the thinking behind the advocacy of their inclusion so that I, too, can worry.
Not about being evil it's about what is fair. No male should ever be allowed to compete vs femlales, a common sense thing.
Obviously, you live in a cave and have never been let out, but every road race in everywhere have males competing against females.
I played co-ed softball which had males and females competing.
Little league had girls and boys competing at least 40+ years ago without issue.
It's like you are in a competition to come up with the dumbest most nonsensical arguments and obviously you are taking the competition seriously, I hope the other idiots competing with you are also the same gender because otherwise that wouldn't be fair.
What is this thread about, why do we have it, well?
Mondo's dad was a pole vaulter and the advantages he got growing up dwarf any advantages a transgender athlete might have.
Mondo's world record is nearly 3 feet and 10 inches higher than the women's world record. Are you seriously saying that having a pole-vaulting father is worth nearly 4 feet of clearance over the bar? You're delusional.
In contests of strength and speed, a completely unremarkable bit of DNA carried by half the world's population - a Y chromosome - makes a huge difference. If you don't acknowledge that fact, you're off in fantasy land. In running at any level, letting one mediocre-to-decent male compete has a huge effect on women's competition.

It's the thinking that one person's identity crisis and daily mood swings can undermine fair competition for women who fought for years to get it.

Any chance you can acknowledge that co-ed softball leagues are a bit different than the examples being discussed here? Yeah, I know you play volleyball with girls at the beach bar on Thursday nights; it doesn't mean you get to toe the line at the Oly Trails women's marathon.

Think you pretty much nailed it, so some guy wants to be a girl, looks like that is his problem why ruin things for others because of his selfishness? Be a girl mentally just stay out of their sports.you don't belong/

Can you name a democrat politician that has said something that makes you think he believes in what you just wrote? Who was it that stood up for the identity crisis and mood swings of the transgender 1600m runners at CIF? And absolutely no one was on Lia Thomas’s side.
The transgender athletes are losing the battle. They have been effectively banned from FINA and WA and it’s been made very clear to the HS ones that they very unwelcome at any high profile meets.

"But nothing is being taken from girls, if that was truly your worry, you could give dual prizes." If you don't see the glaring issue with having a male win a women's race and then give both him and the 2nd place female a gold medal, then I don't think there is any reasoning with you. Simply giving the 4th, 5th, and 6th placed athletes an additional gold, silver and bronze medal at the 800m Rio Olympics wouldn't have solved the DSD athlete issue for example.
"if your only concern was your perceived 'fairness' in women's sports you wouldn't all hate non-binary divisions so much" The reason people hate non-binary divisions is that they financially reward mediocre males, and the entire concept of 'non-binary' is a regressive and idiotic quasi-religious delusion based on harmful stereotypes. Religion has no place in sports. Thankfully the next generation are finding the concept of being 'non-binary' extremely lame and not subscribing to the doctrine that would have them identify out of their sex purely for being gender non-conforming.
"come up with other solutions that didn't target marginalized children" I'd say the side that are targeting marginalised children are the ones castrating them and giving them mastectomies based on little more than a whim, but what do I know.
