Who will he name to replace her? I assume it will be a black trans person.
If they were qualified, would you have a problem with that?
He has said he will name a woman of color. The issue I have here is similar to when Biden made the same remark in regards to a VP or someone says that about a SCOTUS nominee.
You are setting that person up by narrowing it down from "choosing the best possible candidate". It also stinks of tokenism and gives a segment of the population more ammo to say it is "an affirmative action hire" or something like that. (They will do it anyway, but don't give them fuel.)
Just say "I will name the most qualified candidate". If you privately want it to tick boxes then so be it.
It would be interesting and a sign of bipartisanship if Gavon Newsom reached across the aisle and nominated a Republican. Get some civility back in the Senate.
Wow. that is quite the fantasy world you live in. If the Senator had been a member of the GOP then I would say that would be a good move since the people elected a GOP member.

Schiff I bet
Nope, he said he won't appoint anyone who's already a candidate for the office. Schiff, Congresswoman Katie Porter, and black woman Barbara Lee have announced. Babs would love the appointment because she checks Gavin's boxes and would have an election edge.
Remember when Libs were celebrating John McCain's death?
I don't, either.
Let's not pretend the left doesn't celebrate the deaths of people it disagrees with.
John McCain was beloved by the left because he was vehemently anti-Trump.
John McCain was and is beloved by the right because he was a principled leader and a decorated war veteran who made enormous sacrifices for America. He was and is admired on the left for those same reasons.
McCain is despised by Trump fans because they are mindless, cult-like followers of every word from the mouth of a flip-flopping elitest criminal who leverages his followers desire to perpetually feel persecuted.

And even though it's California (>40% Hispanic, >15% Asian), I'd be shocked if it's not a black woman. As we've been told, not all lives matter.
Many Leftists celebrated the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, though to many Leftists she was an icon. Those celebrating her death were angered by her not stepping down from the US Supreme Court before her death.
My take is that it is a big country and you can find someone celebrating the death of just about anyone. Dolly Parton might be a rare exception.
Well, to be fair, I'd throw a massive party if tRump kicked the bucket...
Why?
First of all, I wouldn't actually throw a huge party, it wouldn't be worth the bandwidth, just creating an image. But I think one of the absolute best things that could happen to the United States would be for the tRump cult to die with him. I do believe he's the most malignantly narcissistic and awful person to ever occupy the white house and an existential threat to the democratic process. So it would not bother me one bit to see him kick the bucket, and I would be HOPEFUL that some of that negative energy could be channeled towards the more principled conservatism our country desperately needs.
She is an interesting figure. Solid liberal on some issues (gay rights--not surprising with her background in SF--and guns) and then centrist on military and national security. A lot of these accomplishments are pretty straightforward (sex trafficking).
Yes a great one. Sorry if you’re unable to see greatness, probably because you cannot relate.
Which great legislation did she spearhead? Maybe just list 10.
He listed more than 10 and now, ostensibly because you cannot read, you are not satisfied? Of course you’re a Republican, as you are a dimwit who cannot even use Google to find information and when someone finds it for you, you claim you cannot open it nor read it. Please get an education.
