71.4% of Oberlin college is "LGBTQ." How is that possible?

The culture has trained these kids think if you're openly a committed heterosexual and don't at least claim to be "open" to the idea that could "could be" "possibly by" someday, somehow be 1% something else, then you're a bigot, homophobe, transphobe and bad person in general.

So, smartly, these kids answer in the way they were trained it's safe to answer. They'e taking the path of least resistance, to get by in today's world. It doesn't change the fact that 95% of them, and people in general, are heterosexual.

last point but i feel like NCAA, world athletics, etc. are genuinely struggling with the actual issues here, and tweaking the standards as they go along. they are actually trying to get into details and balance it out and keep it fair. against that background i find it unhelpful for, say, the texas legislature to come running through with political dogma dictating a 30,000 feet altitude crude outcome that ignores the complexity.

here's the deal. the SCOTUS has determined gay sex is legal and gay marriage is a right. at that point your personal beliefs should be besides the point in a "state" or "public" context. to me it's an unfortunate loophole that "private" discrimination is allowed because many states don't include it as a protected class, even though constitutionally it's a decided issue.

as i understand it there is some push at SCOTUS to backtrack on obergefell, saying unenumerated rights don't exist. so they are carving back out a religious excuse. but states aren't allowed an established religion. that too is in the constitution. this is because, as we may soon figure out, if x starts getting the legal to lecture or dictate to y about their religion, under the guise of freedom of worship, we then start feuding on whose religion wins. tons of people died over this in prior centuries. there is a reason it was freedom of worship but anti-establishment.

they wouldn't have contemplated gay rights back in 1776 but they also wouldn't have understood free blacks or women voting. this is to be inherently somewhat progressive an exercise whether some like it or not. the beginning was actually a mess, eg, articles of confederation.

Sending your child to most any University in 2023 is a crime against your child, especially if you send them to one of these high % schools. You are basically paying to have your child psychologically ruined by groomer professors and joining the Queer Cult of America.

I disagree on this point. I don't think there are "plenty of" people whose sex is biologically questionable. Not 1%, not 0.01%, not %0.00001 of the population.

It does not work that way. Some of the worst transphobes I have seen are gay men and lesbians, and some of the worst homophobes are trans men and women. Anyone can be bigots, let alone appearing bigoted.

Students feel pressured/incentivized to be something under the oppressed umbrella.

Without wading into this sexuality mess of story, I will say as someone who teaches at a state school in the deep south, the HBCU analogy doesn't hold water. They were created out of a whole host of hideous social inequalities (such as not being allowed to attend other universities and colleges in the south) and they have the center of debate for many Black Americans since Invisible Man took on their legacies in the 1950s. Whether their usefulness has waned in the 21st century is definitely a topic of debate, but in no way do they mimic the trends in LGTB+ self-identification at obscenely priced, private liberal arts institutions.
