Acknowledging your competitors at the end of the race is basic good manners these days, particularly when its on live tv shown to a worldwide audience. Athing Mu seems to be rude and to have poor social skills/manners when she behaves like that on a worldwide stage. Doesn't matter if its a heat or a final, its to show respect for your fellow athletes, whatever level they are at.
Yes! We need to tell all women they need to smile more. No looking tough or determined - that's too intimidating to our fragile male egos. Smile and look demure, happy and sexy!
1) She doesn't look tough or determined. SAFP looks tough and determined. Mu looks miserable
2) This of course is all relative to what we have seen before - I'll give you a good example. Ajee Wilson always had a relatively melancholic demeanour on the track her entire career - nothing wrong with that, that's clearly who she is. Athing Mu in Tokyo/Eugene looked happy and enthusiastic - a stark contrast to now. Therefore it's not unreasonable at all (yet for some of you idiots it apparently is) to suggest she looks like she'd rather be anywhere but on a 400m track in Budapest, Hungary.
If you have a fragile male ego then I suggest you go see a therapist - you do come across like an anemic little stroker of a person.
But what a trivial and nonsensical thing to comment on. Who cares what her expression is. She's running. Again, why the desperation in trying to find any little thing to pull her down on. She's free to have her face in whatever way she chooses. Who are you to determine what someone's facial expression should be from moment to moment. Seriously, why is it that you feel you need to control her. What is it that you want to control really ?

BS. You're failing. You're trying to carry a narrative but it's not working. Who are you trying to fool. We who have watched athletics all our lives know that's not always the case. Even when I competed people had to go off for treatment, to get ready for the next round, to see to a potential injury, to have an interview, to get water, to check their family in the crowd,...etc. Somtimes you're just plain tired and want to sit on the track. When you lie you limit yourself to a extremely limited version of reality and its very difficult for that to hold up against a small bit of analysis.
And it's not like she does go through the performative BS. Yet again some of the * on these boards just sit there waiting to jump on any opportunity to form new or extent existing negative narratives about her. It's bullying.
Keep on trying to shore up your narrative but the cracks will increase.
Who are you to determine and define what manners are and when and if they should apply ? And whose meaning should be drawn from that ?
Im assuming a lot of US viewers missed the heats as they were on in the early hours.
The feed showed Mu in the call room a few times (focussing on her shoes in one shot) and both times she was getting angry at the cameras for showing her - "oh my god guys just leave me alone" - which is certainly an odd headspace for an athlete pre race.
Definitely gave off some odd vibes even if it was a relatively easy task in front of her of getting through the heats.
Again, extenting a constructed negative narrative, with your definition and interpretation of what happened and crucially without proper context.
It actually isn't about gender but character and personality.
No it's about opportunistically removing and destroying harmonious elements of authentic context, that are truth and reality, and reconstituting them for an interpretion and narrative that serves your political, emotional and egotistical survival (scientific lying).
She just walked away into the stands after the semi. Didn’t shake hands or say anything to a single person. I haven’t followed her but has she always been that arrogant or is this a new thing? Is she just sick and tired of running and being forced to do this by her coach, agent, and/or Nike?

I think Moraa is going to win anyhow and if she does you're going to see Mu-excuses on here like you've never seen before.
Why would you have such specific desire for her behaviour on a hyperthetical outcome ? Again, the fabrication of a narrative. A new one. What in the present do you feel so threatened and terrified by that you seek to do such a thing as manipulate reality ?
Since moving to Los Angeles she has lost some of her mojo not too mention picking up some of the Hollywood mentality which isn’t so appealing.
I’ll be rooting for Nia, Raevyn, and Keely. There is a good chance Mary might win. I expect Athing to win just because she is exceptionally talented, but unfortunately she seems not to embrace her God-given gift and find joy in this. Losing is sometimes the best result to realign one’s false motivations.

Huh?,He is merely making predictions based on historical evidence. I can predict that the US will be DQed in the 4x1 while cheering for them. I can predict that LSU wins the football championship while cheering against them.

why are curmudgeons obsessed with Athing Mu instead of their fam

It isn't about control. Trump pulled a face in his mugshot; no one seems to seek to "control" his choice in doing that but they are free to form a view of his personality and character by how he so presents himself. They do the same with Mu - or anyone. You, too, will be perceived - maybe judged - by others according to how you present yourself. This is pretty basic stuff but clearly beyond some.

If she wasn't apparently disregarding of basic standards of sportsmanship exercised by most other athletes - or even showing she's glad to be there and competing - there wouldn't be a thread on the subject.
man, i was critical of her when kersee made the comments about possibly skipping worlds, but this is nothing. get over yourselves people.
Athing is by most accounts a really lovely person to be around. Why does anybody care that she doesn't want to go through all the fake niceties in the heat of battle, after she just went through what would be a very annoying race.

I think you've just described your own interpretation - minus the "negative" part. Certainly a "constructed narrative".
It actually isn't about gender but character and personality.

You are very good at describing your own approach. It isn't mine or anyone else's here.

You really have no idea that you're only speaking about yourself when you write in that way. (And it's "hypothetical". If you're going to be superior you at least need to get your act straight).
