Getting 5th in the world in 3:30 is indeed a solid outcome in the larger scope of things, but Nuguse could've (and should've) executed better tactics. He didn't establish good position initially, had to spend a lot of energy on the 2nd lap making that big move (not ideal timing for such a move), and then spent most of the race running on the outside. With savvier racing Nuguse likely would've medalled.
You miss the point, it wasn’t to do with Nuguse, who is a very talented athlete, it’s the obsession that USA athletes are the best and will medal in every event without the consideration that there are other very talented athletes just because of they did fantastic indoor or the odd b-race.
be a bit more humble and respect others and there would not be these “devastated” threads all the time, we talk about trolling all the time but it’s mostly criticism to some hyperbole post
