Ingebritsen always seems to have an excuse for not winning. In my opinion, not an all time great of the 1500m, but a very fine runner. If he has a long career I am happy to be proven wrong.

Yes, she is a 3 time Olympic champion including back to back 200m gold. She's won 9 Olympic medals and I believe 3 WC medals. She's one of the greatest of all time. So yeah, that's pretty good company.

Jakob is better than the field by ~1 second with a rabbit. A rabbited race he’ll win 90% of the time.

In a championship race, due to his lack of top speed, he’s forced to lead and is a sitting duck. He’s more likely to lose which is why his 0 for 3 in his last 3 attempts.

The 2021 Olympics were a special case, Tim C. had been and thought he was the class of the field. He set a very fast race and Jakob was able to run it just a like a Diamond League.

With no more Tim. C, Jakob might not win another title at 1500m.

He'd have a chance if he could get someone he knew to make a final and pace for him. However I think most of his friends will not make it out of semis with how competitive it is (no Hoare or Wightman + runner will be getting even faster).

Championship finals aren't rabbited races or time-trials. You have to be able to beat all the other runners, however it is raced.

What on earth are you talking about? He just won the 5k gold in Eugene where he stopped for a water break. Do you look anything up before you post?

How many on that list are also a 5000 world champion? My guess is a couple total all time.

Jakob can't let this happen again or he def won't reach GOAT status in the 1500. El G let the same thing happen in his olympic final, for the same reason, but he bounced back. Either Jakob let his fast times get to his head, or he was nervous about the same thing happening to him as last year and freaked out. We simply saw someone who did not run his race last.

He had 2 options to win: 1) Run 3:27/8 outright. He'd have to dip hard into the well to do this but he knows no one can run as fast. Perhaps he thought it was too dangerous and someone would be able to draft and pick him off at the end. 2) Draft and drop the hammer with 600 to go.

Instead of going one of the above, he decided to run 3:27 pace when only 3:29/30 was possible. Started pushing the pace way too late for that strategy. He should've caught himself during the second lap and slowed down significantly to let someone else risk it for him. Dumb move.

He is going to have to prove he can win championship 1500s without a rabbit. Tokyo was quite unique in that Tim agreed to pace to secure a medal, so Jakob knew he could really just sit on him.

It's not a 1500 conversation and those guys would get smoked by JI in thr 5k. He's a far more well rounded runner than El G, not to mention there are no obvious doping issues with JI.

Dude prob went from 100% conviction he could destroy the field at both 1500 and 5k, to now having to worry about winning him best event at the next Olympics. If he doesn't cement himself in the 1500 with a WR and world/olympic gold, he won't be GOAT. He is rethinking it all right now. The 5k may well play into his tactics and he has much more time to strategize during the race.

But man what a head case this guy is going to be at the Paris 1500 final.. especially with some Brits in there.

On to the 5k... if the competition was watching the 1500, they will take it out very slowly and the big guns will sit on him until 2 to go. Otherwise, they have to run a crazy fast time which I think he doesn't have it in him to keep up and outkick. Eugene 5k was Mickey Mouse.
