given Siffan ran most of the last lap in lane 2 its possible she couldve almost won the darn thing if she just sat on Faith the whole way and waited until the last 100m
Yes, because sitting on Faith Kipyegon is a walk in the park.
She purposefully runs at 10 min mile pace off the start line to get in the back. The first 30-40m is free energy, we all know this. So sitting on fk would have taken precisely the same amount of energy as running the same speed as fk, but at the back of the pack!! She chose to lose. Sifan is a beast on the last lap, but not any better than faith. So why lollygag to the back voluntarily? The energy is the same. Yes, less jostling, but its a 1500, you can't give up 1.5 sec and 16 bodies head start. Dumb. She can do that when she is way better than the whole field. The more I think about it, I just wonder if this is a flex for her? Does she like the optics of being able to run at the back and zip by as though she is toying with the competition. Maybe not this race though.
Dibaba ran 3:50 with HORRIBLE pacing in an actual race. With pace lights she probly could have run 3:48, maybe faster. But it doesn't matter since she was so doped up. Def not a scrub tho compared to anyone

Wrong thread ha. But on Faith she is impossible to beat. She is the strongest, fastest and shiftiest. There is nobody on the women’s side historically comparable. On the men’s side Morceli for a time, but there were some guys on the extreme who were faster in an 800/5000. Did have the shifty part more than El Guerrouj. Credit to Jakob for improving in the shifty category this last year.

You just described the same tactical error that Jakob makes in championship races. He seems to believe those early meters don't mean anything. I've mentioned it numerous times. He compromises his own margin for error, which is already low to begin with.
