The problem with any reality series (and that is what it was) is how much is scripted and how much was ad lib? Elizabeth came across to me (an older person) as young, pretty, but a bit vacuous, girl. Her statements after Jakob won gold at the OG, clearly painted a negative picture of Gjert. I presume that there was editing of the series done by someone - but I cringed when I heard that (what the earlier poster is alluding to) coming from her. As said on another thread, "it seemed like a good idea at the time" encapsulates the family issues that have developed from and within the series. Ultimately Gjert and Tone were the adults in the family who, in hindsight, are responsible for the family train wreck that has resulted.
Gjert isn't the first parent (or family member) fired from a position of authority regarding something that isn't necessarily family connected (like Sports), nor will he be the last.
Perhaps this will be a note of caution to any future family who wants to let the public into their family domain. There may be repercussions, even with the fame/notoriety and presumably money that comes from such an endeavor.
Having said that, Gjert is obviously a good coach, as seen by his work with Nordas as well. Of course if this were in America there would be numerable threads about whether he was actually the best in reference to other coaches - but then that is the obsessive nature of America about these things.
