Nikki competes in the correct category according to their biological sex. They are not hurting anybody as far as I can tell. Why can’t people just let others live and identify as they wish? Why is being yourself narcissistic? What’s the big f’ing deal? Are people so bent out of shape because of they have to adjust their use of pronouns? Really?? So much of the attention around this issue is because of the pushback by those who say Nikki is doing something wrong or even evil. If people would just relax and let it be, the articles about Nikki would be based on their running and not their gender identity because nobody would or should care about the latter one way or another.
she is making everybody else tip toe around words over something that doesn't matter. we have this whole push that women can do anything men can do---and at the same time, we have self absorbed people like hiltz pigeon holing some definition of what it is to be a man or woman, and excluding herself from whatever non-sense she has come up with in her head.
she can be whatever the hell she envisions herself as or feels herself to be without caring about a word that is attached to it.
I liken this to pronouncing a person’s name correctly. If you mis pronounce it, no big deal. The person will correct you. If you willfully keep mispronouncing it over and over, you are being a jerk. Is the person who wants their name said correctly self absorbed? Aren’t people entitled to this courtesy, to have their name said correctly? Well, using the pronouns they prefer is common courtesy too.
Props to Gault (I assume at least, based off the British accent) for asking the question though. But I’m sure robert made him as I’ve seen his comments on hiltz before.

If I knew Hiltz in real life I’d make an effort to refer to her as they as that’s what she prefers and it’s respectful.
But at the same time, referring to Hiltz as “her” - especially when they are competing in the women’s race - doesn’t mean I should be cancelled and have to apologize for “misgendering” her.
If Hiltz truly didn’t identify as a woman, why does Hiltz always race against them and as one?
stuff
I miss the time when people kept their mental health struggles private and sought out professional help instead of pushing it as their whole identity/personality.
A woman in Norway claims that she is a cat trapped in a human's body. The 20-year-old says she first realized she was a cat when she was 16. She says doctor...
Same concept, yet in this instance people are allowed to make fun of it. The rules couldn't be more arbitrary when the issue is people who think they are something they're not.
Why is it so hard for some people to come to terms with the fact that they're not special?
Don’t liberals like you think biological men should be able to compete against women?
There is nothing liberal about using someone's preferred pronouns, and also nothing liberal about Nikki competing in the female category. Yo started this entire thread because you were whining about Nikki using they/them pronouns, and having an article about them in the New York Times because you are a bitter and jealous over Nikki's success and earned news coverage. I assume your preferred pronouns are he/him/his, and if people referred to you with female pronouns, you would be extremely triggered.
With regards to transwomen competing in the female category for sports, I think that they would need to medically transition, and that at the elite level it would depend on the sport. I see absolutely no reason why sports like curling, pool, darts, archery, bowling, perhaps even horseback riding need to have gender categories in the first place, and that there is no reason for sports such as golf, ping pong, ball room dancing etc to exclude transitioned transwomen from competition.
I fully support the rights of transwomen to run road races in the female category, to compete as women in their local pickle ball, softball, or tennis league etc.
I also think that whiny losers like yourself who complain endlessly about they/them pronouns are the wimpiest, weakest, most pathetic type of men that exist.
Here’s the problem with Nikki. Honestly the they/ them pronoun isn’t an issue. The reason Nikki gets hate is because Nikki wasn’t to have it both ways. Nikki gets upset when Nikki is misgendered. Yet, Nikki also says we shouldn’t call a woman’s race a woman’s race and we shouldn’t call the other women in the race women. Instead we should call them running or athletes.
Nikki wants you to adhere to Nikki’s pronouns. Nikki also wants the women Nikki races against to be denied their pronouns.
Hypocrisy is the technical term.
Nikki only knows how to think about themselves. It's called narcissism, and psychologists estimate a 15-80% prevalence rate among people who identify as transgender.
The question and Nikki’s response really made a good point: there is one only “American record holder.” Hiltz has run 4:16.35. The American record is 3:46.91. We can’t act like those two marks are both worthy of being called THE American record.
So just say Hiltz has run 4:16 and leave it at that. One American record holder per event, not two or potentially more.
“Nikki Hiltz, a 1,500-meter runner who identifies as transgender and nonbinary and will be competing in the championships in Budapest, said human-rights standards should be raised when assessing which countries are eligible to host international sporting events. “There are queer athletes in all sports. I think it’s just a bummer that they keep winning these bids,” Hiltz said. “I wish it was kind of like, ‘Hey, in order to host a championship, you have to pass this, this and this diversity and inclusion test,’ or whatever it is. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case.”
Hiltz elaborated more on that point, writing that some days she wakes up “feeling like a powerful queen” and others she gets up “feeling as if I’m just a guy being a dude.” She also notes that there are some days when she identifies “outside of the gender binary entirely.”
She can feel anyway she wants but when she believes she is a guy being a dude or has no gender, she is delusional. Why do the rest of us have to take part in her delusion?
If this is true and she actually wakes up sometimes and identifies as a guy, how is she okay racing against other women? Shouldn't about half of her races be against men?

Nikki was born a biological female and has, and only will, compete against females. Nikki doesnt take testosterone or any transition drugs. every time Nikki is on the starting line against other runners it's an even playing field.
the only difference between Nikki and the rest of the competitors is instead of using 'she' the announcers will say 'they'.
