I love gays but oppose homosexuality. I think and hope that is true of a high majority of people opposed to homosexuality. Before the late 20th century, an overwhelmingly high majority of people who lived anywhere at anytime opposed homosexuality and disbelieved that a same-sex couple could constitute a marriage. Even the ancient Greeks, who accepted pederasty, rejected the idea o same-sex marriage. Do you also consider this overwhelmingly vast majority of human beings who ever lived to have been a huge bunch of "haterz?" I don't. They simply rejected homosexuality.

The Natural Law (which goes back to at least the ancient Greeks) view of human sex is that it has two purposes, one unitive, the other procreative. Think bonding and babies if you prefer. A same-sex couple lacks the anatomical and psychological complementarity to unite properly and lacks the anatomical and physiological complementarity to procreate with only each other.

I expected them to lose this game and prior to the tournament I didn't expect much from them because they had gone through a great deal of turmoil since the last cup from the struggle to gain salary parity (now they have loss parity, going out in the round of sixteen like the men typically do) and from the many coaching sexual harassment situations that they faced in the women's professional league. All of that had shown in their pre-cup results. As they fully make the transition to the new generation of talent, I expect them to contend for the next Cup. Their only long-term obstacle, as I see it, is that their structural advantages from living in a country with Title IX and a collegiate sports system with equal rights for women, in comparison to the soccer powers in which women's soccer is either not desired or not supported, are evaporating to some degree with the creation of strong professional leagues funded by the wealthy European soccer clubs in England and elsewhere, which will raise up many other countries in women's soccer.
