So I understand this as thread as one side being “a member of the huntington university coaching staff, potentially under criminal prosecution, posting across 12 usernames” vs “typical letsrunner in moms basement (Astro)”.

I just reviewed the finish of Wlieys win in the W800 and noticed AGAIN that the other athletes give her a wide berth after the finish. In this case it got glossed over with the champagne bottle bit, but it was there in the minutes after the race....like she is radioactive.

Seems to be a pattern....can anyone present a recent win by her that is acknowledged by her peers with approbation?

I do wonder if the shoe companies are waiting to see what happens with the criminal case and the lawsuits. Unfortunately, at the rate these cases have been moving along, I doubt we will have a resolution prior to the Olympic trials or Paris Olympics, which would probably be Addy's most marketable time.

I haven't looked at the tables to confirm, but I assume a 1:59.00 and her 4:03 are objectively better performances than the handful of NCAA girls who have recently signed NIL deals. Those deals are all set up so the athletes will wear the NIL brand at non-collegiate meets. Addy runs in a ton of open/pro meets, while the other girls may run one or two a year. Doesn't really add up.

She originally claimed that she was turning down Colorado so she could stay training with LJ and seek out NIL opportunities. LJ isn't her coach anymore and the NIL deals aren't coming through.

It wasn't that long ago that we saw Mary Cain make a world championships final only to be out of the sport a few years later. These windows to cash in don't stay open forever...

1) Nick Johnson DID NOT admit to seducing a minor. He plead guilty to "Identity Deception" and the other charges were dropped. There was almost no way the prosecution was going to be able to a conviction on the other charges so they sought and got a plea deal.

2) Because Wiley read some text messages, that somehow translates into guilty of rape and forced injections of performance enhancing drugs? Sure, she should not have had access to his phone but that doesn't prove anything. In fact, it sounds like the messages indicated a consensual relationship and would therefore hurt the case for rape.

3) The athlete is NOT wrong about caffeine being a banned substance. It is not banned by WADA, but it IS BANNED by both the NCAA and NAIA. Where she is confused is how much caffeine it will take to get a ban. One cup of coffee will not reach the NAIA/NCAA threshold for a ban. I personally don't think a person could drink enough coffee to get a caffeine ban and if they did, they would probably miss their race because they would be standing in front of the urinal for the 10th time in the last hour. However, there are these things called No-Doz and Vivarin pills that can easily allow someone to reach the ban threshold.

1) It's impossible to get a conviction on serious felony sex crimes when the alleged victim will not cooperate with prosecutors or testify against the defendant.

2) What sort of upstanding citizen/trusted authority figure of outstanding character shows sexually charged personal texts from third parties to a minor?

3) People speaking authoritatively about incomplete and misunderstood factoids that they heard from someone else describes most posts found on this board. It shouldn't be surprising that a young athlete would also spout such things.

I love them both but…Tuohy is not an 800 runner so there is no reason to expect her to beat Addy

What are you talking about? Colorado gave her a scholarship. Wiley accepted the scholarship. Then at the last minute, Wiley rejected Colorado and went back to the Johnsons and enrolled at Huntington instead.

That's on Wiley. No one forced her to turn her back on Colorado.

I feel bad for this girl. She's received very poor guidance/advice from her parents. She should have gone to Colorado and let one of the very best who's ever done it coach her.

To stay in this situation and make it worse by defending Nick Johnson is just about the worst thing she could have done. At the very least, he's a disgusting sleazebag who preyed upon his runners. At worst, well, the trial will determine what he's guilty of. At this point, she may as well turn pro and join a training group. She will have be no meaningful competition in college. The longer she stays, the worse it looks.

Hiw much was the scholarship? How much is she paying now? She is paying significantly less amd she is running great in more meets than any college or pro runner. What was the bad decision?

Honestly Wiley may push Tuohy completely out of the 1500m domestically. I think it's about to be the Wiley Era.

all this shows is humans tend to think like the herd and have trouble analyzing a situation for themselves. or they just don't like getting their as.es beat by some young up and coming talent.

y'all really think some 19 y/o girl going to a D3 college in podunk Indiana is going to be legit friends with all of the top US professional runners just because she's raced against them a couple of times?

She should have gone to Colorado but no other female 800/1500m freshman runner in the NCAA or NAIA has ever run as fast as Wiley this year across both events, so speaking solely in terms of performance, you can't say that Colorado would have produced a better athlete. What you can say for her long-term good, though, is that she should have gotten away from that situation at Huntington as fast as she could and never come back.
