I must be misremembering those NCAA championships he won or his Alex Wilson DMRs or his races this past indoor season.
He won 1 individual championship 3 years ago. He’s been solidly outkicked in every championship since then.
As far as DMRs, outkicking 1 person who may or may not be a kicker is not the same as playing with this type of fire.
No one is saying that’s its impossible for Nuguse to win in a slow race but merely pointing out that kicking is not his greatest strength.
He’s only hurting himself if he waits too late.
Yeah you sound like someone who hasn’t seen a lot of his races. Like….any of them between USAs last year and now (other than DL). That’s okay though. There are a lot of fast guys in the field who also have a good kick but not enough to keep him off the team unless Ritz botches getting him to the line fresh.

EXACTLY.
Yared is currently the class of the field with a fast pace but all these other runners have solid kicks, there are plenty of people who can win with a kick.
Yared can drop the field from the gun and solo it. If he pushes from the start I think the field would be too scared to follow him closely.

And how many championship races has he been since last USAs? 0. 0 races.
My, and most of the people agreeing, opinion of his kick hasn’t changed since last year because he has not had an opportunity to prove its different to anyone — including you. He’s only competed in rabbited time trials this winter, spring, and summer.
He’s an excellent kicker off a fast pace. Off of a slow pace remains to seen.

You are proving my point. He was in many outdoor races AFTER USAs last outdoor season. How many of those were rabbited time trials?

He ran 3 1500s after USAs last year. All 3 were rabbitted.
He ran 3:34, 3:36, and 3:33.
And a 3:53 mile (he won all 4).
So tell me, 3:36 and winning by over a second is not indicative of being able to close off a slow pace? Do you actually believe he can’t make the team off a slow pace?
In 2023 I don’t believe that anyone but a healthy Hocker can outkick a healthy Yared off any pace because I’ve actually watched him race over the years.
I was thinking Nuguse, Teare or Hocker, and Prakel but I don't think Prakel is running. I have a feeling Waksom could go pretty far. I think he's better than Green

You said he had run in unrabbited races since last USAs. He hasn’t. Everything you say after that is irrelevant because we still have not seen him in a championship race with his new fitness.
He won races where he was the better runner and it was a fast race for his level.
In the last 3:36, his last lap was 55. The field was filled with a bunch dudes maxed out at 3:34-3:42.
We’ve all watched Nuguse over the years. He isn’t some secretly kept runner that only you have seen run.
I asked if all the races were rabbitted time trials where he had to kick off a fast pace. 2:41 at the bell doesn’t qualify as that for me but maybe it does for you.
I just remembered you were the same poster that said Hocker is averagely talented so I don’t know why I bothered. You’re probably just king999.
Don't forget the former Olympic 1500 champ who also has a lot of US titles.
How many other guys in the field are capable of winning with a kick?
How many are capable of sub 3:30?
It needs to be a pure guts race from the start!
I don’t think from the start but definitely from 700 or 800 to go. No reason to let Nathan Green, Centro, Josh Thompson et al in the mix like a 3:38+ race would. Nuguse I suspect will avoid that.

I was saying average in talent compared to Hobbs and your beloved Nuguse. Obviously a huge talent. But not necessarily overly special when compared to a dude who ran 3:34 at 18. And also being a little facetious.
Men’s 1500m1. Cooper Teare — 3:45.862. Jonathan Davis — 3:46.013. Josh Thompson — 3:46.074. Eric Holt — 3:46.155. Reed Brown — 3:46.28 6. Johnny Gregorek — 3...
Yared Nuguse was fit at last USAs. He had run 3:34 two weeks before trial. In that final, I believe he had the second best PR behind Teare at the time.
He ran a very solid 53.3 last 400m and a 39.4 last 300m and got his doors completely off by everyone else. I’m assuming since you watch his races, you remember this one.
He should and would have made last year’s team if the pace were more honest.
Again, you’re defensive about something that is plainly obvious. No one is saying he can’t kick. But for some runners in the field, last year’s final is there ideal scenario. For Yared, it’s not his best chance.
Quite frankly, I want him on the team. So in my ideal situation he doesn’t leave until the last 400m.
