The town I grew up on had a lot of black and brown people move into the north side and values plummeted. Talking 50% losses as crime 8nvreased and anyone that could started to sell. I lived on the south side and every person that could sold before the same thing happened.
It is now a out 29 years later and the city can't pass school levy's, the crime is to the point the city now has a SWAT team.
I don't blame people. One of the points of home ownership is increasing value. If it isn't get out.
Forget the homes. Any descendant of a slave holder should have to work at subsistence level for a black family until retirement. That's the only way to re-balance justice in America.

I think if they can prove someone's ancestor was a slaveholder, the government should take their home by eminent domain and award it to a black family. It's the only way there will ever be justice and peace in America. There is no way a descendant of a slaveholder should own a home.
To take a home by eminent domain, the government would have to pay the current homeowner for his property.
First, if people are doing this voluntarily, what is it to you? You weren't going to buy in Oregon anyway.
Second, they're probably not selling at a loss at all, as their homes rose dramatically in value over the past decades. They probably mean at a discount from the current value.
Third, what's wrong with a little voluntary justice here when black people were long deprived of the ability to buy homes in white neighborhoods or to see their own homes appreciate in value because of federal and corporate redlining?

I won’t knock any private transaction, if they want to sell below value you’re allowed to do that. They cannot explain what CRT is and are vehemently opposed to any free expression by students or teachers.
In predictable fashion, whenever they get stumped by a question about school bonds, curriculum reforms, state funding mechanisms, or concerns over special education, they reflexively start rambling about ineffective border controls, business taxes, drag queens, or Kamala Harris.

It's the underlying ideology that's similar--particularly the idea that one needs to dismantle the existing culture and cleanse oneself of old ideas. In the American context, the toxic ideas are whiteness, patriarchy, colonialism, and cis-heterosexism. There's also the simpler idea that we are morally culpable for our ancestors behaviors, regardless of our own character.
