You have to put in the discount code. I love mine. It's really soft and people just think I love burritos, which I do and which is why I got it. I remember Scott Fauble put up burrito merch like on the same day the Shelby story came out. ha ha. He pulled it so I was glad to still be able to get something burrito and running themed.
you call the shirt the Burrito Track Club and then send the money to Shelby? Isn't that rude. You should grow up.
Yes it's rude. I have a divided audience. This is like politics. There is a huge divide. It came clear to me that there are A LOT of shelby haters and a lot of fans who are tired of excuses of "I kissed my drug addict boyfriend, I downed a six pack and had sex with my wife 8 times, etc."
Plus the BTC name was the perfect match.
So I thought, "A shirt needs to be made." But if I'd made the shirt at profit, I would have been totally crucified. A lot of people I know and respect really believe she's innocent (I also have people i respect who thinks she guilty).
I thought, "It's crass to make the shirt and profit off of it. Let's at least use that hate to help her defense fund." I mean I don't get why anyone who is for a strong anti-doping rules would be opposed to people raising strong defenses. If the system can stand up to a strong defense, then we have more faith in the system.
It can't be overstated how the media who defended her did her no favors whatsoever.
This goes for everyone in the media who defended her.
I've said it before on the boards--everyone hates being lied to.
It makes people crazy to feel like they are being lied to. So much so that they feel very compelled to call it out. The media who has sidled up with her went easy on her. That was a mistake, and it made things so much worse for her with track and field fans who had to pick up the slack.
If the media covered the case in a professional and unbiased manner what they would have found was that CAS did their jobs. The AIU did their job, and the system did not fail Shelby in the least. She had a positive test and a lackluster (at best) alibi. They didn't believe her. There is simply no good reason to believe her. it has nothing to do with offal supply, she ordered a beef burrito. She had twice the normal amount of nandrolone allowed. Why was this so hard to report without going into convoluted stories about the pork industry, her "character", and vague accusations about the system being "flawed"?
If you wanted Shelby to have a strong defense, she had one. She had one of Nike's finest lawyers and her 6 figure salary could afford her time to focus on the appeal without having to get a job. She asked for money and even received some from the public. Not everyone gets this defense, and you don't seem to have a problem with it.
If you don't want a doping athlete to have "haters" then do your job as a member of the media and report the truth. Don't cover for her, as so many of you did (clumsily might I add).
There are a lot of things I could say about this but I think I should just leave it at this is very distasteful. It certainly does not make me want to spend more time on this site.
I'm not saying that anyone didn't do their job. Certainly, the evidence stacks up against her. There is still an outside chance that she isn't lying and something weird happened. Even if she is a liar what good does any of this do. If she isn't lying or doesn't believe she is lying at least should she just admit to something she didn't do for the sake of moving on? If you took an individual randomly from the group of elite runners and considered what were the odds that a mistake was made versus the chance that they cheated, it would be cheated every time. But if you were close to the person and were sure that they were a person of good character or integrity then maybe you might think based on that knowledge the odds becomes more balanced. Some people naturally think the best of people and then some naturally think the worst. I am one who has a tendency towards thinking the best but I admit that seeing all of the violations over the years since Lance Armstrong was busted it has made me a lot more hesitant to side with the alleged athlete.
I read somewhere here that Schumacher didn't like LRC since the boards triggered him, and obviously Salazar tried to subpoena LRC to find the people who allegedly insulted him.
Why would LRC be fans when the feeling isn't mutual at all?
OK, Rojo, you're sold out and now you are going to write Shelby a final check now as you said before. If your intentions are indeed to serve both sides in order to be "fair," surely you will not mind telling us all exactly how much money Letsrun is going to send a banned athlete.
I’m not sure you understand how profits are calculated.
it’s total sales - total costs = profits
Even if you sell an individual shirt for less than cost, you are still contributing to the overall profit of the alternative is $0.
But "profit" can't mean a negative number. So if the cost - per shirt - is $14 (or more) and they are selling them for $13 or less, they are not "profiting from the sale."

Thankfully, I don't use the made up accounting they try to teach you at Princeton.
That's not how I'm calculating it. I'm calculating the profit/loss of each shirt.
Each shirt cost like $13.92 to make. I'll count up every shirt that sold for more than that and send the "profit" on those shirts to Shelby. Everything that sold for less than that or was free (lots of SC members chose it) will be viewed as a marketing expense.
It is truly insane that any post you make will have a negative like/dislike ratio simply because it is you. It must be super entertaining for you

Add the disgusting support from Jerry, Shalane, Karissa, Elise et al. They make me sick.

Well those were in on it obviously. The letsrun owners and staff just fell for their lies, or at minimum pretended to fall for their lies for business reasons.
To call fans who are against doping "Shelby haters" speaks for itself. I am just glad she got finally caught. Justice is served though quite late.
Congrats on clearing out the inventory, rojo. How do you feel about the whole Burrito Track Club shirt experience? Seemed like a bit of a joke, but one that had business implications for letsrun.
