When Simspon set the record she was in a very fast race at the Prefontaine Classic where she was running in a fast group before her kick in the final stretch. If she gets a fast pace and she is feeling good, she has a shot to run a very good time.
I’m guessing Tuohy is a little sharper at this point and I’d predict she outkicks Klosterhalfen as both run ~4:05. That’d put Tuohy in a good place to run a very fast 5k in 2 weeks, and prime Koko to run very low 4-minutes in Doha.
I hate to disappoint everyone, but it looks like Koko will be pacing the 1500. Not sure about the 800.

Walters for 800 at 2:10, Koko thru 1000? Angel pace rest of athletes? Or is Angel going for sub 4:10 herself? Walters is in 800 with Koko but her pr is about 2:06 so maybe she paces that too?
At some point tuohy going to need to stop drafting off everyone and set the tempo.
If you followed her career, she’s been doing exactly that. Drafting as a tactic is just one of her arrows in the quiver, to help her in all circumstances…

That’s not disappointing at all! If anything, that means a hopefully blazing fast 1500 for Tuohy!
