Just noticed Nur 3:39.50 for 8th in heat 2. Not awful by any means but doesn't seem too great for a guy who could be looking at sub 13 this summer. Probably fine
That seemed like a very well run meet. They were cranking through those 1500 heats. Glad Fisher isn’t hurt, but you could tell he was annoyed after the race. also didn’t look like a lot of love between him and Teare after? Is it a big deal, no, just an observation. Fisher, Kincaid, Ahmed all seemed to have better post race interactions. Don’t slaughter me for the observation, it could be right or wrong in regard to the new team dynamics.
Talk about talent.. my daughter had to cover Riggins in ECNL as a right back and Riggins was an absolute beast... quick, explosive, tremendous skills for becoming a runner. What a talent.
Noah Kibet turned 19 just three days ago and apparently it was the first 1500 the kid has ever run. Pops off a 3:36 low. Good grief what a talent.
Kibet is a solid pick for gold in Budapest in the 800 and then on to Paris. Maybe, he’s even better at the 1500? Like another Wightman?? I realize jumping on the bandwagon of a person who already has a world indoor silver is not showing some great insight, but I think his performance last night was the most impressive of all. On the women’s side, I was blown away by Barnett. In fact, the UCLA women looked great all meet. Maybe Brosnan does know what he’s doing after all…..

And props to Georgetown overall. Besides Riggins three other women were under 4:20 and three men were sub 3:40.

NAU women also had 4 under 4:20 all doubling back from other races too.
Barnett ran a great race, and the way she put herself out there and ran the last 800 solo shows that 4:07-4:08 is probably on the way. But she’d already run 4:11.3 a year ago and has been focused on the 1500, vs. Riggins who just lowered her PR by 7.44 seconds. Riggins has had more of an 800 focus (2:03.5 PR) but that’s likely to change now. Last night was only her 3rd open 1500/mile in college: in her first two, she won over Sintayehu Vissa by .04 last April before Vissa went on to win NCAAs, and won the Big East indoor mile title this winter. Watch out.

Kibets issue in a tactical 800 is a lot like Coe’s. He’s very small and has a big stride. So he can get shuffled back or struggle to hold his position. The talent and fearlessness is amazing, but making team Kenya in the 800 is a complete gauntlet (they had 3 in the final last year). At Kenyan trials he led through 600 and feel back to 5th or 6th not being strong enough to run 1:44 low from the front. He made the team last year but because an athlete or two didn’t have enough testing. This was a monstrous sign his training with UAC has been great though, because this race was from a perfect ride and he kept it together the whole race even at a longer distance unlike most 800 guys

Mia Barnett ran a PR of 4:10 and it was the way she did it that was amazing. She threw caution to the wind and just left the pack and didn’t draft like a punk. If she can do that solo than look out.
It's amazing more of them don't attempt that. It's well known in other sports including horse racing that loose speed can produce relaxation and lifetime best results.
But the runners are so afraid of the criticism if it fails. Big deal. Do it again. Eventually you'll get stronger and sustain.
Any goof can run scared in the pack, knowing darn well they'll blend and won't face scrutiny from the coach or anyone else.

We hope Fisher isn’t hurt you mean? Do you know he is okay? That would be great news.
For a guy to get stepped on by the looks of it on the back of his heel and his shoe flying off - I hope and pray he is okay.
