Katelyn is on the accepted entry list for The Wake Forest Invitational. An interesting fact is that another Wolfpack runner reported to be in the transfer portal is also entered and is listed as representing NC State. It seems like if she was serious about finding a new school/team she would race unattached. This is interesting to me due to the fact that entries for this meet were apparently made after April 8.
The original intent of the portal was to 'allow a student athlete to investigate the possibility of transferring to another school' with the option of not transferring at all. Of course with the advent of the 'in the portal at 9am - new school by noon', the term 'in the portal' quickly came to mean 'already transferring'.
It appears that Starliper is using the portal as originally intended to investigate a possible transfer for fall '23 for xc. She agreed with Henes to run for the pack in outdoor track. Communication is positive, open and honest. It wouldn't shock me if Starliper just ends up staying right where she is. The talent is undeniable, even the current 4:25/15:56 version is still a top 7 xc runner for NC state.

Given that Tuohy was recovering from surgey in 2020/2021 and fell in the November 2021 race, comparing points is just stupid.
Next year Tuohy will be a junior eligibility wise in cross-country. 2020* (March 2021) was a Covid year and did not count against eligibility. She could theoretically go for a threepeat, but I don't think she will. Btw wasn't Kipyego a few days short of 21 when she won for the first time?

It seems to me the "3 peat" was referring to the team
I already have that November weekend blocked out on my calendar to make the trip to Charlottesville to watch the XC races in particular to see the Pack bring home another one. Went to Panorama for the ACC race last year and that was pretty fun and a pretty nice venue to be a spectator at too.

Already ran three years, best she can do it repeat. (40 points in three races) Freshman - 24th Sophomore - 15th Junior - 1st
As compared to the ONLY three-peater, Sally Kipyego (3 points in three races) Freshman - Did not compete Sophomore - 1st Junior - 1st Senior - 1st
Can't even compare with Amy Skieresz (7 points in four races) Freshman - 2nd Sophomore - 1st Junior - 2nd Senior - 2nd
Sally Kipyego and Amy Skieresz were phenomenal talents in college. I think just the fact that Tuohy is even in the same breath as them speaks volumes on her development so far.

Particularly after last year’s amazing race, you’d think they’d definitely go for that 4x1500 record.
Shaw was in better form last year and they don't have Anna Vess.
Agree on that, but with Tyynismaa and a faster Tuohy they would still have a pretty good team. It seems to me they are somewhat scheduling around events for Tuohy, so that a Penn Relays team event with her just does not fit. This week it also seems like they want to see if Bush can get a good qualifying time in 1500, and Tyynismaa in 5000 so they can figure out what NCAA championship event should be. But they still have Hartman scheduled for Penn Relays 1500 and Shaw/others in 5000.

The appearance fee might not have been as good for the 4x1500 this year, or
Coach Schumacher convinced the boss lady about importance of no racing.
Seriously, it's become a bit sad. Penn is only fun, has the wheels, and offers record chances, but it's not important for ncaa qualifying, team points, or coach's bonus, so it's harder to bring in a great field every year.

Do not expect to see most of the NC State entries actually run. I would only expect to see one or two actually race. If someone already has a regional qualifying time, then it makes more sense to continue to train, rather than to race.
