We merged to threads into 1. The 1st was "Molly Seidel out of Nagoya Marahton?" and the 2nd was "Seidel withdraws from Nagoya - is she DONE?". Here is her instagram post explaining "pulled my glute badly at the half champs".
She did not mention it in her initial post after the half. She said the race was "pretty damn humbling" but did not mention a muscle pull.
I heard that if every post you put on IG doesn't discuss every possible fact related to an event, you must be lying.
Is that what I implied? It is just slightly noteworthy that in a fairly lengthy and earnest post-race post she acknowledged her subpar performance with no mention of a potential injury.
Meb was “done” after the 2007(8) trials in Central Park. Then he made two more Olympic teams, finished fourth in London Olympics, and won New York and Boston.
Meb wasn't a career head case yo-yo'ing between mental illness, injuries and flashes of brilliance.
Face the reality that she's talented and frail; not everyone is built for the pressure, or can evolve / adapt as their career needs change.

Stupid....Meb was injured a LOT. He was pretty frail as well.
Molly qualified for an Olympic team in her first attempt at the marathon, then MEDALED at the Olympics. What do you mean she can't handle pressure? She may be the most prolific distance runner we have when it comes to handling unknowns and navigating through pressure.
Molly had every reason to bomb at the Olympics in the heat like a lot of other athletes. Instead, she HANDLED her business like a pro. She'll be back. She's been counted out and returned multiple times and is probably one of the more resilient US athletes we have today.
Carlos Lopes back in the early 80's. He was "done" for a while after the 76 Olympics the won World Cross, Olympics and had some great races by 1983-1986 or so.
It's possible for a great athlete to come back.
Jack at the '86 Masters also comes to mind. I think Molly is talented and her story has inspired me, esp. from the mental health side.
So the Nagoya website lists Molly's withdrawal reason as "right hip injury" and yet Molly's Instagram post says she pulled a glute muscle from the half champs. So which is it? A bone or a muscle? A classic sign of telling lies is that you can't keep the story consistent, like Molly here.

Runner's World:
She has withdrawn from the Nagoya Women’s Marathon, which she was scheduled to run on March 11 in Nagoya, Japan, according to a brief statement from race organizers. The statement said her withdrawal was due to a right hip injury.
Seidel clarified in a text message to Runner’s World that she pulled her glute in the U.S. Half Marathon Championships on February 26 in Fort Worth, Texas.
“It just didn’t make sense to take that long flight and try to do it on like half capacity,” she wrote, “so we are gonna let it calm down this week and do another marathon this spring.”

First, it could just be a mis-translation. Second, there's a few injuries where the pain is difficult to distinguish in the hip and glute, such as proximal hamstring tendinopathy and piriformis syndrome. Neither are likely to result in a quick recovery but "hip injury" doesn't always mean a bone injury, you have tendons in there as well.

You could give the benefit of the doubt if this wasn't Molly. But knowing Molly's extensive history of fibs and lies, she's just planning on running an ultra next weekend with the boyfriend using an alias of "Molly Kipchoge"

Did you just compare MEB to Sidel? Ridiculous!
Molly was more successful than Meb at her age of 27-28.
Does anyone else honestly think Molly isn't a great influence on the sport? She looks like a nice innocent ND Catholic girl...but honestly she drops f bombs in front of young runners (like high school teams) all the time, makes constant immature middle school humor "69" jokes, and when I looked at her boyfriend's instagram page, he has a ton of pictures of penises and naked people....pentagrams too and other weird stuff...I used to be a fan but tbh she just seems very immature and a bad influence. Not someone I want my kids looking up to...
