Really interested in seeing more opinions regarding this. As someone about to enter his 40s I have started to think about TRT and all the potential benefits it can bring with regard to the ageing process.
I also enjoy racing and would like to think I wouldn't be prohibited from running a local road race, or even a larger full/half marathon just because of being on TRT.
Competing for actual Master's titles seems to be another matter completely. Unless TRT becomes accepted by the governing bodies as legal, those races should be avoided.
How does one actually test for TRT; is it the same as testing for 'roids? I am 39 and have heard of TRT myself on 97.1 The Fan in Cbus. They promote it ALL THE TIME.

My last significant race was winning the U.S. Championships in Indianapolis in 1990 in the 1500.
This should say Masters since the US champs in 1990 were held in Cerritos College in California.
My bad. I thought from the context of my posting readers would assume I meant Masters since I was 47 years old. Still learning that one cannot assume 'intent' anymore.
If races want to be taken seriously as a "Masters World Championship," then all masters world championship winners should be drug tested.
Absolutely! Guys I regularly beat, got faster even later at age 50 than they were at age 40 and it wasn't the shoes in those days, either. Great call on your part and others who have chimed in with similar takes. I was so careful not to violate any rules, I turned down 'free spikes' because I wanted to stay an 'amateur'
Per WADA, a person can receive a TUE for TRT, but only for Organic disorders, not Functional i.e. low T due to normal aging is not an acceptable condition to receive a TUE.
have you been tested? I would say only if you are clinically low should you use it (not just in the low range). I would go to my primary care doctor and just some low T clinic.
For me, the TRT allows me to feel my age. Before it I felt much older.
I feel literally half my age. I take zero medications. The "secret" is unflagging self-education and implementation of proper sleep, diet and training. I will gladly best as many doped HRT masters as possible when we compete, and will do so to the admiration of their women and families. Call it "icing on the cake".
The mindf#ck of Pig pHarma is real. Kill as many people as possible, as slowly as possible, while extracting as much profit as possible.
Last September, the U.S. Anti Doping Agency gave Jeff Hammond a green light he never expected: USADA said that Hammond, a masters cyclist, could compete in...

Alright...so, how old are you? What are your testosterone levels? What is your proper diet & training? Will it work for the rest of us?
I'm a 62 yr old hypogonadal (524 ng/dL) fitness enthusiast/recreational runner (quit competitive running yrs ago because of arthritis & chronic injuries).
Despite a healthy diet, daily exercise & all that good stuff, I feel like crap all the time with a sh*tload of low-T symptoms. So, what is your secret that makes you a Superman?
The truth is the real men have the dignity to age naturally. They might do what they can and not be reckless to slow the decline, but, what's more important, they accept the reality. That's what makes them real.

Men over age 50 using performance enhancing drugs is an indication of an unfulfilled person trying to gain an illusion of athletic glory.
And it's for people who are unlikely to win low-level races. If you go to the trouble of getting a TUE for TRT, then feel free to enter races and jog along to a 30 minute 5K. If you're taking even an AG top-10 spot, jog on your own time. Other people are putting in honest work to get there.
As a proud member of the "natural aging community," I don't appreciate when dudes show up at my races with no body fat and wrap-around sunglasses to make me look slow in from of my kids. :)
And as a guy who trains hard, I am doing the best I can with the T that's left in the tank. People who say they are "just getting back to normal levels that I had in my 20s" are literally cheating if I they are running in the Masters Division. That is what "Masters" is about --- running while old. Masters is for old people, not people who are hormonally 20 years younger than their actual age.
p.s. I have nothing against TRT but if you do it, you can't race. Those are literally the literal rules of the sport. Of course, if you are mid-pack jogger, nobody will know or care, but if you are doing TRT and knocking people off the podium, you know you are a jerk. That is common sense, right?

I've seen old men at the gym. No dignity there, saggy t*ts

no you won't because no one cares about pro running, let alone some bitter frail grandpa runners with a grudge. The best you'll get is, "and least he is getting out of the house".

You’re right. In fact real men shouldn’t even wear reading glasses. They should just accept they can’t see up close. Same with hearing aids, there’s a volume button on that TV.
in fact once you are over 60, you shouldn’t get any healthcare. Just accept whatever maladies you have and be realz.

There's a lot of sketchy science behind TRT. I think the physical benefits are there for sure, you have 50 year old men putting on 12 lbs of muscle and buffing up like a 25 year old, but the other benefits are mostly anecdotal.
TRT is most akin to plastic surgery than a real medical treatment.
